Another night and another forecast bust. Forecast was 30 F/-1 C but it dropped to 23 F/-5 C.
No pesky radiational cooling with clouds and rain tonight so the low should stay closer to the forecast.
Warm tomorrow with a high of 60 F/16 C.

Kansas had a dust storm reminiscent of the 1930s today.
We had some high winds today, but nothing crazy like Colorado and Kansas experienced. Our highest gust was only 45 mph (~75 kph), and we get that several times a year. I played golf this morning, and it was challenging, especially given I'd only played a couple times before when I was a teenager.

Wind event has a huge bust today, very disappointing. Max sustained gust was 23 mph and a 44 mph max gust. Some leaves, dirt and grass were flying around in the afternoon but no downed branches, signs or anything I’d have expected with a wind storm. Very lame. Now here’s some epic places that did not disappoint. Dodge City, KS had 4 hours with 70+ mph wind gusts, peaking at 84 mph with a dust storm Lincoln, NE had record warmth followed by an absolutely insane thunderstorm. 93 fucking mph winds, a 17 f temp drop and 7 minutes and a thunderstorm. Fuck them. And of course the world’s 3rd best climate got in on the action because why wouldn’t it: Goodland, KS The best and 2nd best climates in the world—Walsenburg and Boulder—had 70-90 mph gusts as well—no convenient observations there though This is just a few examples, everywhere but Fort Boring was rife with insane wind gusts, severe thunderstorms, snow squalls, dust storms, record warmth, you name it.

Was browsing the weather app at work earlier today when I found a coastal spot in northwest Australia where the current dew point was above 28 C (like 83 F). Took this screenshot when I saw the forecast dew point on Saturday will be over 30 C! I've noticed the places in the world with the highest dew points are in coastal/near-coastal areas of tropical deserts during the "summer" season where it gets very hot in the interior. For the Northern Hemisphere, this is usually around the Persian Gulf and the (Iranian Plateau side of the) Lower Indus Valley of Pakistan. Although the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden would be a very close runner-up. For the Southern Hemisphere, this is northwestern Australia where it's humid enough to experience a monsoon, but doesn't receive enough rainfall to not be a (semi)arid climate.

^Load of BS. WankerZone has zero credibility. A good couple of degrees shaved off in the latest forecasts. The AGW at Wankerzone should really hold their froth until closer to the date before running off their AGW articles and tweets.

Big warmup coming to Alaska early next week And knowing our luck in Vancouver, we'll probably be cut off from seeing any notable cold from the downstream trough even through the overall pattern looks promising. As usual.

-27C with a -38C windchill this morning. Might cool for another hour or two still. Will we see our first -40 windchill of the year? Let's find out!
Also our forecast high for today is -21C, which will be our first high below -20C since February 14th if it happens.
