December (+Annual) 2021 SummaryTemperatures right on average for December—though with great stability. Precipitation slightly above, with quite a few severe storms this month; comprising rain rates of as much as 64 mm/hr and wind gusts to 90 km/h in the strongest of these (a frontal band). Of note is a dramatic increase in temperature from November, pronounced moreso here than at Hunters Hill. This year has finished off remarkably cool and wet: the annual mean maximum a full degree below average (and the annual mean minimum about a half-degree below); and a rainforest-tier annual rainfall of well over 2,000 mm—though just under 1,700 mm at Hunters Hill. Relatively cooler and wetter towards the immediate slopes of the GDR, as evident by Hunters Hill ending up with significantly lower precipitation and warmer temperatures (especially June and November) despite its higher altitude and more south-western location. Seasonal range was precisely on average; ranging from 25.3 to 6.5 °C from Jan to Jul, compared to the average of 26.2 to 7.4 °C (also Jan and Jul). Days of precipitation were above average to a profound degree (157 days compared to an average of 136), making for a particularly cloudy year. I absolutely hated this year's "summer" (i.e., Feb and March), but I loved winter save for Boregust and thought fair of spring (though spring was much too stable for my liking); autumn, being April and May, was excellent. July was my favourite month, with April and June following closely; and February, March, August all three constituting my least-favourite. A particularly healthy Northwest cloudband + westerly belt/LWT activity was observed from early winter through to late spring…if only the AAO weren't so stubbornly positive throughout the latter half of the year, it would've been spectacular. Anomalies @ Hunters Hill (1993–2020)[December]• Mean Maximum: 23.0° C (–0.1° C) • Mean Minimum: 12.3° C (+0.1° C) • Precipitation: 88.6 mm (114.77%) [Annual]• Annual Mean Maximum: 15.5° C (–1.0° C) • Annual Mean Minimum: 7.6° C (–0.4° C) • Annual Precipitation: 1,680.8 mm (141.55%) • Seasonal Range: Jan 25.3° C to Jul 6.5° C = 18.8° C (0.0° C) • Days of Precipitation: 157 (+21)

I think I'll merge this into this thread, but will spoiler the boxes so it doesn't take too long to load / scroll through. I'll start with some from the western U.S.; I'm skipping a lot of states because Steelernation has got a lot of the region covered (especially the Intermountain West) and because I intend to post international weather boxes as well later on. I made Python scripts to pull out monthly data from daily .csv data, and thus make things easier, and note that trace amounts of precip. are counted as zero. NOTE: I can't guarantee every single weather box I post will be accurate, and representative of the area. A few from AZ: Some from CA: A few from OR and WA: Valles Caldera, NM:

December 2021 was the warmest on record in Oklahoma City by 2.0°F (1.1°C). It was also the first record warm month in the city since March 2012. It would have tied for the driest on record, except for the small amount of rain that occurred on the last day of the month. Even a mere 0.19" (4.8 mm) was enough to knock the month out of the top 10 driest months. Three days set or tied a daily record high, and two days set or tied a record high minimum. The average high this month was the warmest on record by a solid 5.0°F (2.8°C), warmer than an average November. However, the average low was only the third mildest on record. The absolute minimum of 12°F (-11°C) was about average, but the coldest high was 45°F (7°C), the mildest on record. A total of 10 days hit 70°F (21°C), the most on record.
2021 as a whole had near-normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation. The extremely cold February was canceled out by the extremely warm December. The spring severe season was quiet, and most of the severe weather happened in October. 2021 was also the first year to not hit 100°F (38°C) since 2004. Overall it was a good year, but I would have liked December to be significantly colder, and for the second half of the year to have been wetter. A cooler and wetter March would have also been nice.

December//2021 Auckland SummaryA warm december to finish off a warm year. The early and later parts of the month were well above average temperatures, however the middle part of the month was cool and wet. Overall a good year aside from the lame ass spring. December temperatures across the country

I've had enough time in hands to make a bunch more today—mostly focusing on the South. TX: LA: MS: AR: AL: GA: SC: NC: TN: And a few from Virginia: Cheers to all the effort you put in! I would like to note that downtown Mobile, Savannah, and Charleston have yet to dip to 0 Celsius or below, as I have been monitoring the forecasts for them since November 1, and the coastal downtown areas where the general weather is taken from (as in, just googling the weather for those places) are warmer than the inland airports where frost is reported from. Same goes for Cape Hatteras. I don't know exactly where its general weather is taken from, but those forecasts gave no frosts just yet.

Well above average December. Had a couple of light snowfalls including a nice coating on Christmas Eve but under an inch total for the month. The 64 F/18 C high on December 11th was recorded after sunset and we also had a pretty strong thunderstorm for this time of year. November data has gaps and no precipitation recorded since the station was offline intermittently so take it FWIW.

Here's Umeå airport 2021 (vs 1991-2020) Here's an anomaly table I made for temp, precipitation and sunshine compared to 1991-2020. (as well as one with a more homogenous color scheme, don't know which color scheme is neater) A pretty sunny and dry December, but it was also the coldest since 2012, by 3.1'C (we actually haven't had a single below average December since 2012) Chart over Decembers since 1991: The year as a whole was okay. A little colder than average, and very wet, but still stunnier than average. Winter was extremely snowy, spring was alright, summer was really nice, but fall was atrocious being either extremely wet or really cold or cloudy, and sometimes all at once. Over-all the last quarter was probably the worst.
