February 2022 Summary: A cooler than normal, very dry, and moderately variable month, February 2022 had an abundance of sunny days with large diurnal ranges, even more so than one would expect in a climate like Tucson. Mornings around freezing with mild highs in the 60's and 70s were commonplace this month. Two weak storm systems moved through the area bringing gusty winds to over 50mph in both cases but very limited precipitation. Storm on the 23rd dropped snow levels to 3,000ft, only 500ft above the city leading to some nice vistas in the higher scrubland. Highest Max Temp: 81F (Feb 14th) Lowest Max Temp: 53F (Feb 3rd) Average High: 68.9F (-0.3F) Mean Temp: 53.2 (-2.9F) Average Low: 37.6F (-5.6F) Highest Min Temp: 48F (Feb 28th) Lowest Min Temp: 25F (Feb 3rd) Precipitation: 0.19" (20%) Precipitation Days: 2 (-2) Averages at KTUS: 70.1/38.5 (0.20")

February here was much milder than average, wetter than average & sunshine a little above average. There were just 3 air frosts & just one very brief snow flurry (as well as sleet, graupel & hail). The main talking point of the month were the three named storms which struck within a week, causing widespread damage locally & around the country. February 2022 Summary The end of a historic and record hot summer for Perth. February capped it off with stable, hot and sunny weather (besides a weird cold front on the 7th). After the cold front we had a long stretch of 37-39C from the 15th to 19th followed by a more stable period of humid, mid 30s weather to the end of the month. Overall just very hot, stable and sunny. Wiluna February Summary Starting quite humid, cloudy and wet; February appeared to be below average before the final 10 days brought very hot temperatures and wall-to-wall sunlight. Even though the entire rain/storm event is not seen on the data, my site had storms, rain and duststorms from the 10th-14th. We even had the road flooded (turned into a river) and had to escape across a few kilometres of road/river to get back to our camp before it was too late. High Max: 45.1C (28th lol) Mean Max: 38.0C (+1.4C) Low Max: 29.7C (14th) Anomaly: +1.05 High Min: 29.3C (24th) Mean Min: 22.9C (+0.7C) Low Min: 16.6C (20th) Rain: 16.0mm Rain Days: 4 days

February 2022 Summary
It was a decent albeit unremarkable February here. The month finished about 1-2F above average, though highs were further above average than that and lows about average, so had some days with pretty high diurnals this month. Precipitation slightly above normal finished at 120% of average, whereas just 2" of snow fell in what is often the snowiest month of the year, averaging around 10", so that was a nice relief. Thankfully snow cover was also slightly below average, occurring on just 5 days compared to the average 7. The month also featured large temperature swings, from 60s to snow back to 60s within days. The month also featured a couple ice events, in both the first week and the last week.

February was average (-1.0F) and saw half the average precipitation. The first half was bland, with several mild days with highs in the 40s. A few days saw a dusting or trace of snow, but the only significant snowfall was 1.5" of powdery lake effect snow on the 4th. The second half was more active and variable:
16th: High of 53F/12C 18th: Snow squall in the evening. Brief heavy snow and strong wind, like a summer storm but without thunder. 19th: Low of 6F/-14C 20th: High of 53F/12C 22nd: Freezing rain. 0.2"(5mm) of ice 25th: 5.3"(13.5cm) of snow overnight, then bright sunshine 28th: High of 50F/10C The second half of the month would be a good few weeks in March to me. Too many thaws for February. The first half was forgettable. Only 7 snow cover days at the airport (1") but another 14 days reported a trace/patchy snow.

Better late than never. February won't be remembered as a wintry month, it will be remembered for being unseasonably mild and frequently windy, especially towards the end of the month.

February 2022 was snowy and variable. We had a snowstorm early in the month and an icestorm with primarily sleet later in the month. There were some mild spells in between. I wish the month had been more consistently cold and a bit wetter, but it was a good month overall.
