Umeå airport managed a 20.1'C low last night! Haven't checked the PWS yet but I wouldn't expect it to be much different since it was a cloudy night. You blokes are more 'tropical' than us at the moment....

A cold front is coming, already over western Latvia: Liepāja in western Latvia is only at 19C at noon: Riga still goes above 30C before the front.

Another warm night. Turku recorded a low of 21.2C. Highest seem to have been Rantasalmi in Eastern Finland with a 22.8C low. Wow, that's warmer than our warmest low last summer (20.5C), and I am more than 20 degrees closer to the equator. To be fair, we got a lot of warm nights in the high teens, but just didn't get any particularly hot night.

Warragamba Dam Spilling As East Coast Low Inundates Eastern NSW ( source: Weatherzone ) More than half a metre of rain has drenched parts of eastern NSW during the last 48 hours, with spills from Warragamba Dam prompting major flood warnings in western Sydney. A deepening coastal trough and developing East Coast Low have driven huge amounts of rainfall onto parts of the NSW coast and adjacent ranges over the last two days. The heaviest rain between Friday and Sunday morning fell between Sydney and the Illawarra, where two-day rainfall totals reached 300 to 600mm in some places. Some of the highest observed rainfall totals during the 48 hours ending at 9am on Sunday included: 595 mm at Brogers (Kangaroo Valley) 521 mm at Wattamolla (Kangaroo Valley) 367 mm at Robertson (Nepean River) 378 mm at Foxground (Lower Shoalhaven River) 350 mm at Darkes Forest, including 297 mm in 24 hours (Georges River) 241 mm at Picton (Nepean River) 220 mm at Smallwoods Crossing (Warragamba River) This immense rain has fallen into already saturated catchments, causing river to rise rapidly and dams to spill. As of 9am on Sunday, moderate to major flood warnings were in place for the Nepean, Hawkesbury, Colo, Georges and Shoalhaven Rivers. Water NSW reported that Warragamba Dam started spilling at 2am on Sunday, which was ahead of initial projections due to the intensity of rainfall over the last two days. According to Water NSW, “at 7am the rate of spill was 240 gigalitres per day (GL/day), with inflow to the dam occurring at a rate of 380 GL/day.” For perspective, the volume of Sydney Harbour is around 500 gigalitres. These spills will combine with inflows from recent and future rainfall to cause rapid river level rises in the Nepean and Hawkesbury Rivers, where moderate to major flooding is likely from today into early next week. Unfortunately, areas of heavy rain will continue to fall over parts the state’s central coast and ranges on Sunday and Monday, including parts of the Illawarra, Sydney and Hunter regions. In addition to the riverine flood warnings in place for NSW, there are also severe weather warnings in effect for flash flooding from heavy rain, damaging winds, and damaging surf. Be sure to check the latest severe weather and flood warnings regularly for the most up-to-date information on this dangerous weather event

To be fair, we got a lot of warm nights in the high teens, but just didn't get any particularly hot night. We’ve had one low above 20C here in my lifetime - 25 July 2019. Even after days where it’s reached 33/34C, it still falls to around 18C the following morning. Just thinking back to last summer, our hottest day had a high of 31C, and the low was 15C. That’s perfectly normal for heatwaves here. Our heatwaves usually have low humidity/dew points though so I guess it’s not surprising.

We had cool weather in late June with several lows around 65°F (18°C) and dewpoints around 55°F (13°C). Highs were around 85°F (29°C). It was near-perfect summer weather. Sadly, the heat and humidity has gotten worse sense then, and it's supposed to be consistently hotter than normal for the next week at least.

Today featured some notably dry weather. With dry high pressure building in and NW'ly downslope flow, dewpoints were able to drop into the 50s and even 40s in spots. With the strong July sun, downslope flow, and dry air, some inland spots got into the 90s with the low dews, for relative humidity in the teens. Quite impressive.
Here we topped out at an unremarkable and average, albeit very pleasant and dry, 85F (29C).

This heatwave was quite humid and not with 24/7 clear skies. DPs were almost all the time above 17C, and there were at least some intermittent cloud cover.

Such autistic and mentally fucking weather this year! I literally can't! And I don't think I've been so mad about the weather as I am now!!! 🤬 So whenever SAM contracts his ass close to fucking Antarctica we have to get 300mm of rain in 3 days? Will that be the trend!?? 🙄 This is becoming a fucking joke. Even Melbourne is more normal than this bullshit weather in Shitney! I curse the assholes who founded Sydney on Port Jackson. Why didn't they do Perth instead or even fucking the South Coast! Christ man! Sheesh vent over

Heatwave in northwest Canada (Yukon Territory and Northwest Territories) for this entire week. High temps roughly hovering between 28c and 34c (82f-93f) as far north as the arctic ocean coastline.
Note that locally thick smoke from the fires in interior Alaska and Yukon could cap high temps cooler than expected in some areas.

Brisbane was around 12 degrees all day - don't recall them getting such a cold day before. Meanwhile, it was a sunny 14 degrees here. Not many days when we get better weather than them at this time of year.

Cool and fresh. 20.3C, partly cloudy, relatively windy, 10C DP. Wish that it won't last for a long time, but nice change of pace RN.
