I am loving hearing about these heat records in the UK. Totally epic! It brings back memories of the PNW heat dome last year and I had a couple of nice beach days at the time. Same here. Peaked at 42c in my neighbourhood on June 28th last year.

After what happened in Bretagne and the Loire Valley yesterday, the heat gradually moved toward the north and the upper Normandy and the Northern coast's took a turn to rewrite the record today.

It looks like Reading had a low of around 19°C last night and a high of 37°C today. That's hotter than yesterday, but still cooler than our average low in Norman.

Last night was weird. Our low was 19C, but up in the hills it was 23-25C. It’s like there was an inversion.

Smoke from forest fires in SW France this evening when winds shifted. There was a distinct smell too: Last night was weird. Our low was 19C, but up in the hills it was 23-25C. It’s like there was an inversion. It's pretty common when the 925 mbar level is hot. Here the top of the Eiffel tower is often in the high 20s for a min compared to low 20s in even UHI stations.

Never thought I'd see 40C in Yorkshire, but here we go! What a crazy day of heat. Now just need my house to cool down.

Ridiculous list of the warmest lows today in France. Usually you'd see stations from the Med region. Today two thirds are stations in Normandy, Brittany and their surroundings, including a nearly 30°C low. Couple Parisian stations as well: As for the warmest, loads of stations around Paris this time around, including a 41.8°C/107°F reading in Gometz le Châtel in the SW exurbs:

Well yesterday did not disappoint as we ended up getting 1.28 in/32.5 mm rain. At one point it was 80 F/27 C with a dewpoint of 76 F/24 C. Impressively warm and humid conditions.

Yesterday pleased us both, with the bulk of the thunderstorm activity staying inland to the NW and off of LI, so I'm happy too with just 0.03" of rainfall

Last night was weird. Our low was 19C, but up in the hills it was 23-25C. It’s like there was an inversion. Sane thing happened here (Vancouver) during last year's heat dome event. One station on a local hill (Burnaby Mountain -- approx 380m above sea level) recorded a low of 29c one night while most of the metropolitan area below was about 23-25c. I believe that was the highest low ever recorded in our province (British Columbia).

Too humid! It's quite pleasant to be honest. Definitely changes the vibe of things. Makes sense especially considering how many spots in coastal Atlantic Canada are often cool and rainy during the summer. Specifically thinking of St John's on that point.
