Had quite a downpour this evening from a t-storm. Received 2.15" which is the most I've received in single day all summer. Not really that much lightning close by considering the amount of rainfall. The airport has only had 0.13" of rain today. Got this pic as storms were building around 6 PM.

After a very warm, muggy night (75/73 f combo at 3 AM, a cold front moved through and the oppressive conditions of the past week finally broke.
After 4 AM, the highest it got was only 73 (23 c) with the first sub-60 f dews in a long time. It was also overcast too, creating an exceedingly pleasant and refreshing day.

Much nicer today here too. High was 75F/24C with a dew point of 55F/13C. Last weekend I was in Iowa and it was MUGGY. Dew point at the airport reached 81F/27C on Saturday and 79F/26C on Sunday and I was outside all day. Saturday: Forecast was for 95F/35C and a dew in the mid 70s. "Only" got to 92F/33C, but the heat index was 111F/44C. Hazy skies.
Sunday: Morning storms and persistent clouds kept the temp much cooler than the forecast of 89F/32C and partly cloudy. Extremely humid again but not nearly as uncomfortable as the day before. Still was a sweaty mess of a day.

I'm so goddamn tired of positive anomalies. Love them in summer, hate them in winter. This is the time of year when I'm just anxious for fall. I don't want hot weather in September lol.

Heatwaves anytime from late April thru early October are fine by me. Typical September heatwaves here are usually accompanied by very low humidity and generally translate to highs between about 30c(86f) and 34c(93f), with lows between about 13c(55f) and 17c(63f). On the extreme end (1988 or 2017), highs may reach up to about 37c(99f).

No more subtropique conditions for the time being. Dropped down to 49 F/9 C this morning. Forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 80 F/27 C so a comfortable summer day.
September-esq conditions this upcoming week with rather benign temperatures. Highest high/low in the forecast is 83/61 F (28/16 C).

Today is the 4th day in a row above 30C, and tomorrow should make 5. Definitely the best spell of weather all summer.
We have a thunderstorm warning for Monday but that usually means nothing.
A big cool down after Monday (with uncertain rainfall amounts), but models are still showing further hot weather. Even some talk of the hottest August on record.

It's quite rare for us to hit 35 C or higher in September, although we had one astronomical heat wave here way back in 1931 in September where we hit 106 F (41.1 C). It was actually our record high until we hit 107 F (41.7 C) in July 1936. A record that will never be broken. We've only hit 35 C once in September since 1978.

Very nice yesterday, only got to 77 (25 c) with very dry dews in the low 40s (5-7 c). Doesnβt really need to be any warmer than that.
Dropped to 50 (10 c) this morning, very refreshing to have a cool night.
Meanwhile, Fort Collins had a 70 (21 c) low yesterday, the warmest August low on record. Weβll see if it holds (the 70 in July got corrected to 69), but if so pretty impressive.

First real rain in ages in Paris today. Small shelf cloud: Ironically no storm today in the mountains while they're widespread everywhere else in the country. Got around 70 mm yesterday judging by radar reanalysis so I'm not complaining. Heatwaves are just better for storms up here Speaking of heatwaves, Toulouse had its first sub-30Β°C high of the month today. MTD average high above 35Β°C there and above 30Β°C in Paris. Another hot one...

Would be an accomplishment even for subarctic Melbourne.
