Darwin Airport May 2022. The first of the 'Dry Season' months in the Deep North. The month of May produced record max temp heat on average, with 2022 averaging 33.6c. This was 1.5c above the long term ( since 1941 ) mean. Min temps, whilst not a record, were also well above the long term mean at 24.0c, ( 1.8c above ). Rainfall was a common feature of the month throughout the city and some suburbs, with upwards of 60mm falling out in Palmerston. As the data shows, the falls missed the official gauge at the Airport, with only 0.2mm from an isolated shower on the last day of the month. The long term average is 20.7mm allthough the median is only 4.3mm Highest max - 34.6c on the 25th ( and 11 days +34c ) Lowest max - 31.8c 0n the 13th Highest min - 26.2c on the 6th Lowest min - 21.7c on the 8th Rainfall - 0.2mm on the 31st.

May 2022 Summary, Sheffield
May 2022 was a mild month, with consistently mild temperatures, and apparently a substantially higher than average amount of cloud, but less than average rain. The month was dry, yet quite a lot of days had trace or trifling amounts of rainfall, often lasting just a few seconds or minutes, so as to be barely noticeable. The month saw no real cold or warm spells, and featured no weather of any interest. The mildest period, mid-month, saw the heaviest rain which was at night and undisruptive. Most of the month's weather was comfortable and useable, but totally uninteresting.

Synopsis: A warm, wet month overall. After a gay piece of shit upper low meandered off the coast bringing cold and cloudy weather, the latter half of May was largely ridging-dominated, but combined with deep moisture advection, and a slow-moving cold front, made for training lines of T-storms, which dumped over 4" of rain over two days here. Why does your graph have different extremes than your weatherbox? There’s two stations in the same spot. One is the coop station, which is the official Fort Collins station and what you see in Nowdata. That’s the one I used in the weatherbox. The other station, more recently installed in the same exact location, is run by Colorado Ag Mesonet. The AgMesonet station has 10 minute data while the coop station only fills in daily on Nowdata so I use the AgMesonet station for current weather. The two stations are usually the same but occasionally differ by a degree or so. The people from NWS Boulder say that neither is more reliable than the other and the occasional difference is in both directions so not an issue of reliability. Now normally I would still use the coop station in the graph BUT it uses the 7 PM-7 PM day. I want my graph to reflect each day, from midnight-midnight so I use the AgMesonet station in my graph. Long story short, there’s 2 stations that occasionally have a slight difference—I use the official one for the weatherbox and the unofficial one for the graph so that the graph can be done by calendar day.

Average high: 16.7°C (+0.3) Average low: 8.1°C (-0.2) Rainfall: 32.0mm (-54.2mm) Sunshine hours: 135.7 hours (-6.9 hours) Note: sunshine data taken from Melbourne Airport Overall, a pretty average month in terms of temps and sunshine, but quite dry. The cold front at the end of the month was interesting. However, I didn't like how there were so many rain days for such a low rainfall total, but that's so typical of Melbourne.

Average May conditions (1991-2020) Average high: 17.1°C | Daily mean: 12.6°C | Average low: 8.1°C Average precipitation: 34.4mm | Average precipitation days (>0.2mm): 12.7 | Average relative humidity: 62%
A slightly cooler and much drier than average May. The highlight was probably the strong cold front which brought a couple of well below average highs and most of the rainfall recorded during the month.

May was a very decent month, nearly bang-on average in both temperatures and precipitation. Environment Canada shit the bed once again with numerous missing days of precipitation so I used the precip data from the other weather station in town. Average high: 18.6C (normal: 18.2C) Average low: 3.5C (normal: 4.1C) Mean temperature: 11.0C (normal: 11.2C) Warmest high: 27.6C (May 5th) Warmest low: 10.1C (May 5th and 6th) Coldest high: 7.7C (May 20th) Coldest low: -3.1C (May 21st) Precipitation total: 38.9mm (normal: 43.0mm) Precipitation days: 8 (normal: 9.5)

May was wetter and warmer than normal in the OKC area, but nothing too noteworthy or record-breaking. The one noteworthy thing was that this rain got us out of our extreme drought. May had more rain than January-April combined, something that happens once every several years. We had some 3/4" (1.7 cm) hail and a tornado warning early in the month, but overall the peak severe weather month was nothing too crazy for here.
