So far every month of the year has had above average highs and sunshine which is neat, although the lows have been fairly average. May was a nice month. Fairly dry, decently sunny, pretty consistently decent weather really. Nothing really stood out, with no 20'C days, nor any proper cold periods. May is rarely this stable. Also feels like we've had an extremely long spring, without much difference between March, April and May except for the weather becoming more consistently mild (warm days didn't get much warmer, but the cold days got fewer). Especially since my PWS hit 17.3'C vs the airport's 14.4'C in April (Over-all the temp difference between my PWS and the airport was massive during sunny and calm days until the snow had been properly gone for a while at the airport, meaning the difference between April and May was less in the city). Following is a comparison between the airport and my PWS this month. A few hours during the afternoon was lost unfortunately on the 28th of May. Otherwise it looks really clean. Seems like legitimate PWS to me. I made a chart over the temp difference of each hour of the day. The airport is actually warmer on average between 5 and 9 in the morning. I would assume it to be a combination of the PWS being shaded from the earliest morning sun as well as having a longer response time to temperature change (temperature "inertia"). In this chart I use the SMHI standard 20.00 meteorological day break for a fair comparison. On the 28th I used data from my other more scuffed PWS. As you can see, my PWS actually averaged cooler highs, which can probably be attributed pretty much completely to the slower response time of my sensor compared to the AP sensor, since my PWS was actually warmer than the AP by about 0.3'C on average during the afternoon when comparing hourly readings. On days with scattered clouds and weak wind, temps could easily rise from 17.0'C to 17.6 to 16.8 on three seperate 5 min interval readings at my PWS whereas the airport might've recorded maybe 16.7, 17.5, 18.2, 18.5, 18.1, 17.2, 17.6, 16.7, 16.2, 16.6 in 1 min intervals within the same timeframe with its more responsive probe thermometer (just a hypothetical scenario). The airport thermometer itself is about 3x as rapid to change as my thermometer is (a bit of that is going to even out when you consider both stations have a radiation cover that will add "inertia" due to heat retention of the shield itself as well ass replacing old air with new air, but still), and it records every 10 seconds I believe whereas mine records in 5 minute intervals. If you look at the rapid temperature changes on the 2nd of May in the first graph for example, it's easy to imagine that this could have a significant effect on the final highest temp.

Tied with May 2018 for warmest May on record. 4.6F warmer than normal and 1.49" drier than normal. Summer-like conditions dominate a majority of the month. Got a bit of a break from the heat and humidity the 4th week. A few storms (I got a nice storm on the 13th missed the airport). Lowest max: 78F Highest min: 77F Days 90F or above: 19 Days with thunder: 4 Highest dewpoint: 75F Average dewpoint: 66.9F Lowest dewpoint: 48F

Gonna be warm/humid here as well. :/ Far from a med wanker, but we legitimately need to dry out here. Every summer since 2017 has been severely wet though, so maybe? I'll have a normal precip summer or drier one? We will see

May was wetter and warmer than normal in the OKC area, but nothing too noteworthy or record-breaking. The one noteworthy thing was that this rain got us out of our extreme drought. May had more rain than January-April combined, something that happens once every several years. We had some 3/4" (1.7 cm) hail and a tornado warning early in the month, but overall the peak severe weather month was nothing too crazy for here. The highs on May 23rd and 25th are impressive though!

3 F above average for the month. A few hot days but otherwise pleasant. The freeze on May 1st was near the average last freeze. Rainfall was bang on average.

I didn't realize I had my PWS running for the whole of April, but I did, so I figured I might as well make a weatherbox for it. At one point my station toppled over in a snowstorm between the 8th-10th of april, and during those days I replaced the data with airport data. Compared with the airport, April was substantially milder at night, and the highs differed by over 2-3'C on multiple days. Sometimes it was the airport that was the significantly warmer station, and other times it was the PWS. On average, it was more often the PWS though. Likely mostly due to the ground underneath the PWS being very dry last-year's grass compared to snow or newly-melted soggy grass at the AP. Those differences disappeared in May.

Bangkok, Bang Na agromet. site
Highs Max: 35.7 C Mean: 33.1 C Min: 28.5 C
Lows Max: 27.8 C Mean: 25.6 C Min: 22.4 C
Rain Total: 286 mm Rain days > 1 mm: 13 Rain days > 10 mm: 5 Rain days > 20 mm: 4 Max 24 hr total: 151 mm
---
Cooler and wetter than average. But mostly light rain and prolonged drizzle. Notice we had 13 rain days but only five days with over 10 mm. But we still had over half falling in one event. Also a very disappointing month for storms in what is usually the stormiest month of the year.

May was a bit cooler than normal, but that does not tell the whole story. First of all, the amount of warm days was catastrophic, and secondly, the high during many days was just briefly reached kind of "artificially" bringing averages up. This led to a painfully slow leafout.
Highest high: 21.1C (19th) Highest low: 10.9C (31st) Lowest high: 8.7C (8th) Lowest low: -2.1C (4th)
Anomalies from 91-20:
High: -0.7C Mean: -0.6C Low: -0.5C Precipitation: -2.1 mm (94%)

April and May summary combined in one post. April saw average temps (-1.0F). It was wet (+1.29") with 16 precipitation days, including 7 consecutive days. No temps below 30F at the airport, but the last 32F was the 27th. Snow fell on the 2nd and 18th but didn't last long. 4 days reported thunder, 4 days reached 70F. The 21st-27th was the most variable part, with a 70/45 day to start. The next day was cold and rainy, 46/42 and 1.10". Then back to warm, with 82/45. Then a cooling trend until 39/32 on the 27th. May was warm (+2.8F) and average for rainfall (-0.58"). It started cool but mostly dry, with the last freeze in outlying areas being on the 6th. Then it turned hot and dry with 90's reported inland. The airport only managed 87 which is still very warm for the middle of May. Another warm spell brought more 90's at the end of the month, but the airport reported 87/73 and 85/75. Warm nights for May, but not as warm during the day. Madison reached 94F/34C in the first wave and 90 the second one. Oddly the warmest heat index of the month was recorded at 9am on the 11th. It would normally be in the afternoon hours. 84F/29C with a dew of 71F/22C, for a heat index of 89F/32C. But the wind shifted and it was 59F/15C at noon and 51F/11C at 3pm before warming back up to the 60's.

Better late than never, right? May 2022 Summary for Green Bay and Appleton, WIDaily temp and precip data have been compiled into one Excel spreadsheet as opposed to clogging up the post with three huge screenshots. Note that due to sheer incompetence, such as Appleton's day rolling over at 7 AM, 71% of the daily weather is associated with the wrong date. There were several days (3rd, 4th, 7th, and 27th) when due to strong sunshine in the evening, my PWS recorded high temps that were 3-8 F too high compared to what was observed officially (actually not including the two hottest days, which are unaltered); these numbers have been replaced with numbers that I believe to be more accurate. Overall it was a nice, warmer than average month, with a nice 1934-style heat wave in the second week producing the third-warmest May high temperature on record. (#2 was in 2018, and #1 was in 1934.) Precipitation, on the other hand, left a fair bit to be desired in Green Bay, but was okay in Appleton, and especially at my place where we got the rain on the 10th that GB missed out on, and we got more on the 25th: an ugly, gloomy washed-out day. (Perhaps my rain gauge was a bit over-excited?) I'll count a total of three thunder days (10th, 13th, and 19th) - the wettest day of the month incidentally had no thunder to speak of whatsoever. Overall May is that month that some years is decent, and other years is still as a whole too damn cold for my tastes - I'd include this May in the former, decent category. I'd single out the 13th as my favorite day and the 25th as my least favorite. The former was a warm, sunny day - then with an impressive lightning show in the western sky in the evening that I was outside for and got to watch, even despite most of the rain from the storm itself avoiding us. The latter was raw, rained out, and disgusting; thunderless rain (largely light, though with some heavier periods that brought most of the day's two inches) that started in the morning and just lasted all day. I couldn't do anything outside, so I went to the mall and walked around in there instead, but couldn't stand the horrible music in there for more than a half-hour either. The Year So FarNo box for my PWS because it was down for a while in March and precipitation numbers can be wonky in the winter. Still, the contrast between our cold Gaypril and warm May is striking.
