Basically, this is a site where you create your own virtual country and run it how you see fit. You start out by answering a quick questionnaire and then the course of your nation is determined by your answers to issues that you get a couple of times a day. Your nation name is your login, and you're allowed to have as many nations as you want as long as you don't have more than one in the World Assembly (the NationStates equivalent of the United Nations). This site's been around since 2002 and it's got a pretty active and dedicated user base, about 200,000 active nations and a forum section that can feature some pretty heated political debates. Your nation will go inactive if you don't log in for a month, but you can revive it at any time simply by logging into it again.
