Generally I like monsoonal climates, this is a classic example of a highland subtropical location with monsoonal influences. A bit too cool for me per se, although at least the cooler months are dryish. This sorta place was much beloved by the British colonial masters; an escape frome the debilitating heat of the Indian lowlands. Tossing up between a C+/B- ...... B- for the excellent monsoonal rain pattern.

This is a difficult one to rate. On the one hand, the warmest month mean high of 24 C (and record high of 30 C) is pretty poor. And the monsoon is excessively wet and cloudy. But winters are pretty nice - mild, dry and sunny. Plus they seem to get a ton of storms. So, all in all, I think I'll give it a B. I think I'd want to be at a much lower altitude here, e.g. nearby Tura would be an A.

D if they get a lot of storms with the monsoon, E if not.

A solid B climate. It's very pleasant with a very reliable wet season. Winters are a nice change.
I used to work with a girl from there who lives in Vancouver. One of the better places in India.

I do not belong in Shillong. I give it an E+, pretty boring outside of summer.

F
It has NEVER been hot here on record. In fact, it's a submild rainy shithole, so there you go.

^I think we should be more lenient on it considering the fact that this area is pretty much surrounded by oppressive sauna climates in the nearby lowlands (like the place linked below which is close to it). I mean, it will be nice to go up there and get some fresh air during the prolonged Indian summer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylhet#Geography_and_climate

Sylhet has very warm, very rainy, and ostensibly extremely humid summers - but Shillong's are still mild at best.

I don't know how to properly rate this climate as it's so different to anything I've personally experienced.
Temperatures look comfortable year-round.
The summer monsoon seems like it would be quite novel at first, but as the monsoon drags on, it would probably feel endlessly rainy and cloudy. Even non-rainy days are probably super wet.
Winters seem like they would still be lush from all the summer rainfall, even if there's not much rain.
Overall, I would probably rate it a C.

I mean when we're surrounded by sauna weather, Shillong will not be so bad. That was the point I was making.

D+. Too cold, rainy and cloudy in summer but at least it's not uncomfortably cold in winter/spring.
