The Basin: The climates within the Sydney basin ( APOLOGIES, I know, the climate boxes are small! Hope you can zoom 'em in?): I left out some places in the Hunter Valley such as Singleton, as they're pretty much similar to Penrith. And Bowral in the Southern Highlands seemed like Orange.

Penrith
Quite good. Could serve as a "cooler drier standard version" of my dream climate.

Oberon because it is generally the coolest of the lot. Second best would be Katoomba. I'm surprised you didn't include Gosford. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gosford

I'm surprised you didn't include Gosford.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GosfordBecause it's a mishmash of Sydney Airport and Nelsons Bay (both included). I did say that I omitted some areas because they were similar to others listed (Lithgow, Camden, Bowral, etc).

That is a reasonable selection of climates, coastal, inland, north and south of Sydney, low altitude and high ( for AU ) altitude. Also windward and lee climates west and east of the Great Dividing Ranges. I will pull you up on the 'Sydney Basin' general description though, I reckon you've cast the net too wide to fit 'Sydney Basin'. But understandable, gives those not familiar with the region a good selection to choose from.

Thanks. I had to choose the extreme ends of the Basin.

Katoomba for the rainfall and cool winters. Nelson Head would be my second choice.
