At ๐๐ฟMรถrรถn๐๐ฟ 's behest, I am making another climate battle with Chinese cities. China has an unofficial city tier ranking, ranking cities by importance. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen are the four tier 1 cities. They are the richest, most influential, and most powerful cities. Which one has the best climate? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_city_tier_systemTier 1 cities, but with tier 100 climates. BeijingShanghaiGuangzhouShenzhenI am going to go with Shanghai, it is the most temperate, with less rainy summers compared to Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

I just noticed something: somehow, Beijing has a longer summer than Shanghai does.

All pretty bad but I'll go with Shenzhen since it doesn't get extreme heat like Beijing and Shanghai.
Nice amount of precip in Shenzhen as well.

Shanghai. October and November are significantly worse than Beijing and it probably gets barely any snow but Beijing doesnโt get much at all either and instead has shitty, dry, stable cold in winter. And the nicer may and June make up partly for the worse fall.

Shenzhen. Prefer the sunshine in Beijing but no point to that winter cold if there's no snow.

Beijing for the decent winters and more sunshine.

Shanghai seems the best choice here. Comfortable winters at least, to counteract the shitty humid summer.

The discrepancy between Guangzhou and Shenzhen amuses and befuddles me. Must be Mandarin chauvinism at work /s
Going off of Windy stats and general latitudinal climate zone logic, the Pearl River Delta has longer and more consistent periods of suffocating (>23 C) dew points, but Shanghai (being solidly within the subtropics) has higher max dew points during the summer peak.

Been to all four cities before, including considerable time spent in Guangzhou since half my family is from there. Despite my ties to that city, I'm gonna pick Shanghai for having the best balance of temperatures. The Pearl River Delta is just too hot and humid for too long, and I don't like that gloomy period in late winter/early spring. (what's up with that? - it's not even the wettest part of the year)

All are awful, but maybe Beijing for being the sunniest at least

Shenzhen
Warmest winters of the bunch - and impressive precip to wet day ratio as well.

They all suck obviously, but Shanghai for having the most even precipitation distribution and best temperatures of the bunch.

All are terrible, but I will vote for Beijing as it is by far the sunniest one
Shanghai has the best temperatures, but it's just too damn cloudy

All are awful, but maybe Beijing for being the sunniest at least Good reasoning, but it doesn't work like that in practice. While all the other cities are cloudy, Beijing is often covered in a cloud of smog. It's been getting better in recent years, though.
