Both cities are at 12ºS, yet have very different climates. Which one do you choose? Darwin Lima

Darwin
Not a contest. Lima is a disgrace for a place at such low latitude and elevation.

Funnily enough I was within 48 hours of a job 150klm south of Lima back in 2006 at the Peru LNG Project....a couple of Darwin based blokes who had worked on the Darwin LNG Project ended up there building the wharf/jetty. Before I was due to start there, they had a massive earthquake that destroyed the nearby towns and the place/site was damaged. So instead the construction company, Norberto Odebrecht, wanted to send me to the third world hellhole of Djibouti....Aussie mates in Lima warned me off, saying they wanted to send me there because Odebrecht's own people were refusing to go there...lol.... and Aussies wouldn't know any better. I was gunna go to the Peru job on less money than I could pull at home ( except for the tax free benifits ), and for the experience rather than the renumeration. Anyways the big 'quake put paid to the chances of the job and I declined the Djibouti one and another one in Angola for the same reasons.....3rd world shitholes ! My good mate JR did a 3 month stint on the Peru job, said the climate was fine if a bit chilly for Darwin blokes. That big kick arse cold current running up the west coast of South America keeps things remarkably cool and dry for the latitude. Darwin is a waaay better climate than Lima in my opinion....at least we get some rain as opposed to sea fogs and mist.

Lima 100000000%. Don't think I'd cope with Darwin's extreme heat and humidity. I find 22°C with high humidity bad enough.

Lima easily. Neither are my cup of tea, but Darwin’s monsoon is hellish. At least Lima is very comfortable, albeit boring.

While Darwin is quite a bit hotter than my preference, it is still far better than Lima.
Lima is hyper-arid AND devoid of sun. A terrible combination.

Lima is cool. It's winter months are like coastal San Francisco's summer months, sunshine hours and everything.

Lima. Darwin is almost never comfortable during the day and Lima at least has some seasonality so it wins despite the extreme boredom.

If Lima were sunny I would've gone with it.

As much as I hate hot tropical climates, I’ll have to pick Darwin. Lima has a disgusting climate, it’s devoid of sunlight even thought it’s an hyper arid bone dry desert wasteland. Darwin gets a lot of sunlight and rain at least.

Tough choice but I'll go with Darwin for having more sun and rain. I think it would be interesting to experience the differences between the Wet and Dry.

It's worth reiterating. Darwin has a brilliant climate. Lima's climate is absolutely pitiful for the latitude.

Lima for having a definition of a 'cool, cloudy day'
