California is a large state, with a remarkable diversity of climates. Here, we will compare the climates of the cities closest to the "four corners" of California. Never mind that California is banana-shaped, and that San Diego on the southwest corner is further east than Alturas in the northeast. Four corners, four very remarkable climates, which one do you like best? Northwest (Crescent City):
Northeast (Alturas):Southeast (Yuma):Yuma is actually in Arizona, but whatever Southwest (San Diego):I'm going with San Diego. It's by no means my favorite climate, but it's very comfortable and pleasant. All the others are hugely problematic in some way or other.

All defective climates but Alturas is easily the least bad.

I knew it would be the NE corner before opening up the thread.

Alturas
San Diego might have a good climate by general consensus, but it would get boring after a year. Comfort isnโt what makes a climate good.
Sandy Ego is a D climate since it never gets too hot or too cold.
Yuma has easily one of the worst climates on Earth, summers are deadly hot, unsurvivable without AC, thatโs why you donโt see much homeless people there. But id still rather live Yuma than any tropical rainforest place like Manaus.
Yuma is a F+ climate, the + is because it gets a lot of sunshine.
Crescent city has depressing winters and mediocre summers. Iโd take the frigid snowy winters of Minnesota over the depressing rainy winters of the Pacific Northwest.
Crescent city is a C- climate, since itโs livable and has more variation than San Diego.
Alturas has everything I like, hot and dry summer days with mild nights and moderately wet winters with snowfall.
Alturas is an A- climate.

San Diego wins this one....by no means perfect ( ie too dry ), but for various reasons the other choices are way less perfect

San Diego, though these are all bad by California standards. The state has a plethora of A-tier climates, but San Diego is a B at best, comfortable but too seasonless and dry. Somewhere in the center of California would be amazing.

San Diego. Itโs a bit too dry and boring, but still miles better than the other options which are hugely problematic in their own ways.

Yuma actually. The heat would be more interesting than the never-ending 60s-70s of San Diego.

Alturas is the most balanced of the lot.
Second best is either San Diego or Crescent City.

Sandy Eggo. Yuma would have won if it was 10C cooler in summer.

I'm afraid I'll have to go with Yuma on this one, because it's got the most summery temps. The lack of precip would get old, but I reckon it gets more storms than the others.

This poll is a perfect example of the lack of diversity in CA's climates. There really is only one climate type. All have dry as fuck summers, the only difference is temps and how much rain they get in winter. I'll guess I'll pick San Diego for the best temps.

California is one of the worst places in the CONUS for thunderstorms, too:
