September 2022 was warmer and drier than normal, just like June, July, and August. The daily record high on the 21st was tied, but overall the heat was not too extreme. The bulk of the rain happened on the first of the month, and since then only 0.34" (8.6 mm) of rain has fallen.

September 2022 Summary for Madison, WIOverall a slightly warmer and wetter than average month - though it certainly seemed dry given that most of the precipitation was concentrated on one weekend in which it just rained non-stop at a pretty consistent 0.1" per hour. The first couple of days certainly tested my indoor temperature preferences as I don't have AC here and I saw an indoor temp of 87 F (31 C). Two thunder days: the 3rd and 20th. (There was even hail with the storm on the 20th, but I missed the whole thing as I was in a meeting in a room with no windows. Damn it!) Overall other than the weird rain distribution, the first two thirds of the month were about as good as you can expect for Wisconsin - but you can clearly see where everything went down the toilet on the 22nd. I live within the UHI so I didn't see frost the morning of the 29th, but a co-worker who lives in the country did. The Year So Far
