This is a small project I've been working on for the past couple of days. I took a map of what North America looked 77 million years ago with 5 dinosaur fossil sites and decided to create a fictional country out of a section of that map. I created states with capitals and climates for those capitals based on how warm North America was back then, taking into account the local geography of the capital regions as well as my own interpretations on those exact climate figures. 5 capitals are the dinosaur fossil sites shown in different text format on the map. Note: Two Medicine is the capital of the entire country and is located in South Denmark. Enjoy. A shitty map with state borders and capitals: The climates: Ana Bonita: Hot climate but with a chance of cool summer lows. Compass Bay: Coldest state capital in the coldest state. Dinosaur Park: Biggest city in Lappia. Fruitland: Hot all year round. You can find huge bugs here. Judith River: Pretty similar to Dinosaur Park. Kaiparowits: Another hot af swamp. Mountrusk: Very comfortable climate except for all that winter rain unless you're into that. Ribbonport: Only capital besides Compass Bay to have never reached 100°F (37.8°C). Two Medicine: Only inland capital. Vequestra: More humid during the summer than Ana Bonita which explains the warmer summer lows despite being located much further north.

Another note: Red lines indicate country borders, dashed black lines indicate state borders, state names are written in bold, italic text, and yellow squares are the exact location of state capitals.

Compass Bay
Cool idea but do you have any material to back up these numbers?
These climates look awfully continental. And the northern ones are pretty cold.

Two Medicine
I’m a bit skeptical of how cold these places are

Compass Bay Cool idea but do you have any material to back up these numbers? These climates look awfully continental. And the northern ones are pretty cold. North America was a lot hotter 77 million years ago. Other than that, a lot was left up to interpretation for me because no actual climate data from 77 million years ago exists. I just decided to do the best I could and have fun.

I don't like any of these. Dinosaur Park is the least shittest though.

Voted Mountrusk. Disappointed at how cloudy the winters are in all of the west coast locations.

Torn between Dinosaur Park and Judith River but I’ll go with the former

Ana Bonita
I love seeing people's new fictional climates. This one has a nearly perfect average temperature profile, with a handsome Mediterranean rain profile to boot.

Ana Bonita. Not so handsome with the cloudy winters, but decent of the bunch

Vequestra for being a true Mediterranean paradise
Not a bad selection of climates here, most of these are pretty livable.

Ana Bonita, I guess. Too warm but still a good amount of rain. That sunshine distribution is not so ideal

Dinosaur Park has a good balance of all the factors compared to the other options.

Fruitland - very similar to my dream climate

My dislike of arid periods now has me favoring Kaiparowits - a bit steamy but not in a bad way.
