Sequel to the Sacramento vs San Francisco climate battle. Do you prefer no summer heat, or extreme summer heat? Eureka
Redding
I will go with Redding, even though it's way too hot in mid-summer. Redding has beautiful vegetation and beautiful weather outside of the hottest summer months, and it has beautiful vegetation. Redding also has many lakes and rivers nearby for boating and swimming.

I wanted to pick Redding, but those average highs are above my body temperature. Since my body is unable to cool down at high temperatures due to the lack of sweat glands, if the temperature is above 35C, my body will be the same temperature as the air around me.

Eureka. It does get a few hot days, just enough for the experience here and there, knowing it will quickly cool back down again.

Eureka, reluctantly.
I'd have voted for Redding if those summers weren't so goddamn hot. And yes, I have been to Redding in summer when it was 105-110F. No thanks!

Redding. Unlike Sam Francisco, Eureka gets no warmth and is quite wet and unlike Sacramento, Redding actually gets interesting winter weather and snow.

Redding. I picked SF last time, but ime there's a big difference between 17c and 20c highs in summer. 20c can still be relatively pleasant, but 17c is downright chilly.

Redding obviously, as while itโs still too hot for me in July-August, the rest of the year is perfect.

Redding is too hot in the summer. Eureka is way more comfortable.

Redding at least forgives and spoils you with cool-ish refreshing nights in the hot summer. And it isn't a bad climate. C+ at best, whereas Eureka is a D
I can't believe that Eureka is sunnier than Melbourne with its cool and moist conditions. California is one lucky bitch in this regard.

I thought Eureka's summers would be very foggy, but maybe the reputation is exaggerated. I just read a guy on Reddit who says that Eureka averages 1800-1900 hours of sunshine a year. I somehow find that more believable than the official NOAA stats lol Edit: I did some research. I thought Eureka would be like coastal San Francisco, where it is perpetually foggy/overcast during the summer months. Eureka on the other hand gets a good amount of sunshine during the summer.

Oh yeah, I just remembered that US sunshine hours are overstated (compare Detroit's and Windsor's sunshine hours). So Eureka is more around 2200 hrs.
