Unsurprisingly, most places around the Mediterranean Sea have a Mediterranean climate. However, not all do. Here are some of the most notable non-Mediterranean climates around the Mediterranean sea, that are not classified as Mediterranean by Koppen (Csa/Csb). I excluded climates that are borderline Mediterranean. So basically here are all the climates around the Mediterranean except for the good ones Almeria, Spain (BSh)Venice, Italy (Cfa)Trieste, Italy (Cfa)Rijeka, Croatia (Cfa)Gaza, Palestine (BSh)Alexandria, Egypt (BWh)Tripoli, Libya (BSh)I will vote for Trieste, pretty good and well-balanced climate

Rijeka for having the wettest winters/springs of the bunch, as well as nice temps. Summers are still relatively dry. Great climate battle idea!

Most of these places are ~1-1.5c warmer than those stats nowadays (for 1991-2020), I'll go with Venezia myself for being the coolest.

In my opinion, 'Mediterranean' is strictly a pattern and nothing to do with rainfall total. So a lot of these under 'BSh' etc. are Mediterranean.

No, climates that are as warm as these Bsh ones would need at least 20” of annual rainfall to qualify as truly Mediterranean. Semiarid ≠ Mediterranean. Just look at natural vegetation. True Mediterranean climates along the likes of Rome and Lisbon produce much lusher environments than semiarid climates with Mediterranean patterns like LA and Tripoli.

Good point actually - you've changed my mind! Haven't thought about it that way.

Almeria for the pleasant year your round temps and fantabulous sunshine hours! Btw, Gaza and Tripoli aren't bad.

Rijeka
Greatest cold potential and overall decent potential for high variability all year.

Judging from those relative (24-hr?) humidity stats, Gaza has insanely humid summers. That looks like 23-25 C dew points in Jun-Sep which is comparable to northern China or the US Gulf Coast. Rijeka seems most pleasant overall.

Toss up between Gaza, Alexandria and Tripoli. I will give it to Alexandria by a hair for a bit of extra sunshine and fewer rainy days.

Venice for being the coldest. But if Trieste gets much better storms, I could be convinced to pick that instead. It's only 1-2 degrees warmer.
