We already did a thread about the best climates of each continent, now let’s do one about the worst.
Europe: Tie between Valetta, Malta (Csa) and Torshavn, Faroe Islands (Cfc).
Asia: Kuching, Malaysia (Af)
Middle East: Dubai, Uae (BWh).
Africa: Dallol, Ethiopia (BWh).
North America: Death Valley, California (BWh).
South America: Quibdo, Colombia (Af).
Australia: Marble Bar, Australia (BWh)
Antarctica: Alfred Faure, Ile de la Possession (ET)

Europe: UK, Scotland Ireland and Iceland. Heck, make that also most of Germany, Netherlands, Scandinavia, Russia and the Baltic region
Asia: Most of eastern Asia from Japan to Vietnam, including the southeast (Malaysia, Philippines, etc)
Middle East: The areas surrounding the Persian Gulf
Africa: The muggy, cloudy tropical climates in the centre (i.e. Central African Republic)
North America: The midwest and the northeast
South America: The tropical rainforest climates within the Amazon
Australia: Western Tasmania (beautiful area, but the climate is just horrid) and the tropical areas around Darwin
Antarctica: All of it! Lmao

North America: The Canadian Arctic, most of Alaska, the PNW above 46-47°N
South America: Tierra del Fuego
Asia: The far northern tier of Siberia north of the treeline
Middle East: Its highest points & immediate Persian Gulf coast/islands in it
Africa: The highest points (e.g. the Atlas Mountains, Mt. Kilimanjaro)
Oceania: The southern parts of NZ, as well as Tas. The Snowy Mountains included as well
Europe: Everything above 50°N, especially the subarctic maritime islands (e.g. the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Shetlands), all of Scandinavia

Benfxmth that's basically my list. Eastern Canada even below arctic latitudes can be shitty too. Think of Happy Valley-Goose Bay for a suicide climate. Along similar lines, the Kuril Islands and surrounding areas in northeast Asia: the coldest and cloudiest places you'll find at sea level at those (quite temperate) latitudes.

This would be more interesting if it was limited to cities with a population >100,000. As it is it’s just the coldest place on each continent even for temperate lovers like myself. Every continent has ET or EF climates at the highest elevations/latitudes which nobody wants to live in.

North America: Canada & Alaska, but also any tropical climates in the south.
South America: Tropical climates, and the coldest in the south.
Asia: The far northern tier of Siberia north of the treeline
Middle East: The hottest driest climates
Africa: Hottest places and deserts.
Oceania: Deserts, tropical areas.
Europe: Scandinavian climates with the coldest winters and anywhere with hot summers.

Then my list will be (with decent-sized cities): North America: Whitehorse, YT, Canada (Dfc) or St John's, NL, Canada (Dfb) South America: Qubidó, Colombia (Af) Europe: Murmansk, Russia (Dfc) Africa: Djibouti City, Djibouti (BWh) Middle East: Jizan, Saudi Arabia (BWh) Asia: Norlisk, Russia (Dfc) or Yakutsk, Russia (Dfc with the new normals) Oceania: Lae, Papua New Guinea (Af) or Invercargill, New Zealand (Cfb) Antarctica: All, as there is no city there!

I will use this rule in my list, only cities with a metropolitan population of over 100k.
North America - Saguenay, Canada
South America - Quibdó, Colombia
Australia/Oceania - Suva, Fiji
Europe - Murmannsk, Russia
Asia - Norilsk, Russia
Africa - Monrovia, Liberia

Asia - Oymyakon Africa - Probably somewhere in Lesotho Australia - Liawenee Antarctica - The whole continent has a terrible climate, but Vostok Station is the worst of the worst

I think 100k is too restrictive but since that’s what everyone else is using I’ll do that:
North America: Yuma, Arizona South America: Quibdo, Colombia Europe: Vorkuta, Russia Asia: Norilsk, Russia Africa: Khartoum, Sudan Oceania: Jayapura, Indonesia
5k or 10k would be better—still real populations and would include many more extreme places

Picking the worst is harder than the best, I feel, because there's a lot of bad climates and I don't really care about choosing between a bunch of F climates.
A few alternatives -
For North America, Yuma is hard to beat. But what is the warmest tropical city in North America? Or perhaps, the highest average dew point city? Dew point data is hard to find.
South America: I wouldn't pick a cold place but for cold haters, Punta Arenas is the furthest south city over 100k (Ushuaia is 82k). Though parts of La Paz city such as El Alto have colder summers than Punta Arenas, with means less than 10C.
Asia: Khartoum is terrible. I could go with Kuwait City (47/31 in July) or somewhere like Assab which is hot and humid. I don't want to spend enough time there to decide which is the worst.
Bangkok gets an honorable mention as it has the warmest annual mean in the world (maybe) and is a major city.
I'd go with Lae for Oceania, which CRISPR posted above. There might be a hotter place but this is hot and extremely wet. The hottest place over 100k might be worse even if it's not as wet. If the annual mean is near 30C for example.
For Australia and NZ, the worst large city is Darwin. The Kimberley area has nasty climates but no cities over 100,000. Australia only has 18 cities over 100k. New Zealand has 7. Of those, Darwin is warmest and Dunedin is coldest.

What's the warmest tropical city in North America? That would be a miserable place too. But I think I'd like that better than Yuma since it gets rain and isn't quite as hot. Consider Aruba the worst tropical climate. Hot and dry.
