This climate battle isn't meant to be political, but it will pit the climates of notable modern-day warzones against one another. Stay safe!
Mandalay is near the current Myanmar civil war, and has an equatorial semi-arid climate due to those high evapotranspiration rates.
Stepanakert is the capital of Artsakh, which is a disputed territory fought over during the recent Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts, and it has a temperate climate.
Bahir Dar is near to the ongoing Tigray War in Ethiopia, and it has a tropical savanna climate, with very large diurnals.
Kabul, the Afghan capital, is experiencing the prolonged Afghan civil war, and has a continental semi-arid climate.
Taiz is located in the heart of the ongoing Yemeni Civil War, and has a tropical semiarid climate.
Mariupol straddles the frontlines of the Russo-Ukrainian war in Donbas, and has a classic humid continental climate.
Tartus is located near the ancestral homeland of the Assads of Syria, who have waged war on their people, though this city has a beautiful subtropical Mediterranean climate.

I will obviously vote for Tartus, as it is the only Mediterranean one of the bunch. It's nearly perfect, though it could use to be slightly cooler in winter and have less seasonal lag.

Cool thread idea but some questionable choices here on your part. But let's not get into that. I'll go with Stepanakert. Mariupol has a more depressing climate. With that said, I think the most interesting climate is Bahir Dar, if that data is legit.

Tartus is the best of the bunch for me.

It's close between a small handful of them...ultimately the comfort wanker side of me picks Taiz over Mandalay. Tartus is good too.

Bahir Dar, but Mandalay is pretty good too. Surprise pick from you. Bahir Dar has pretty chilly nights by your standards.

Genuinely torn between Ta'izz and Bahir Dar. Tartus is too easy but also not a legit answer (I was under the impression that the fighting in Syria has really died down during the pandemic)

Taiz. That combination of latitude and elevation produces some really nice temps year round. Plus they get some decent storms in the summer and nice dry winters. Would be an A+ if the lows were a bit higher.
