Santiago I think is a good compromise between the two types of climates you are describing. Semi-arid but with fairly rainy winters, cloudy winters but not as cloudy as climates further south. Its early 100s sunshine hours just make me shudder. I know right? So scary. To be serious though, I never said that Santiago had good sunshine hours, just that they were middle of the road for Chile. Really shows how lackluster Chile's climates are in this regard.

I was tempted to pick Coyhaique and Punta Arens for the highest snowfall, but I would miss summer there. I went with Temuco and Osorno since they have less of a summer dry season, some summer warmth, and some winter cold. Chillan has better summer means but it's too dry in summer so I think I'd prefer Temuco over it.

Really shows how lackluster Chile's climates are in this regard. The problem is, they are not evenly distributed. 2,500 are nice and adequate on paper, similar to Sydney's. But to have most of 2500 focused on one season just ruins the climate.

Lots of good ones here but I went with:
#1 Valdivia #2 Temuco
The rainfall in Valdivia tips the scales in it's favor over Temuco. Both have comfortable summers.

Antofagasta for the mild temps, followed by Easter Island for the rain. Honourable mentions to Arica, iquique, CopiapΓ³

Easter Island is the most palatable one. All the others are pure garbage
Had no idea that Chile has such a shitty selection of climates.

Shitty selection indeed. Santiago, I guess.

All of these suck but Santiago is easily the best. Good temps and gets some precipitation without having the disgusting wet winters like places farther south
