I was going to vote for Kalumburu until I looked again and saw its summers are equally washed out - and Cooktown's average temps are more temperate as well.

Kalumburu... stunningly beautiful remote part of Australia... terrific monsoonal wet/dry climate as is typical of this part of Northern AU. And can drop below 5c in the dry season.... that should keep all you polar foamers happy....
