desiccatedi85 easier in theory. It would work if there’s 5 climates but I don’t think people are going to be able to put 26 in order. That’s just too many and too different climates to be able to rank. I don’t think an extra round for some climates is unfair but if people think it is, here’s what I say is the best method: 2 groups of 4, pick the top 2 6 groups of 3, pick the top 2 That leaves 16 climates and then you can do a regular tournament from there. Yeah the climates in the groups of 4 would have a slight disadvantage but they all have the same number of matches Of course this should’ve been figured out ahead of time

And yes, you're idea for a tournament format is much fairer as everyone plays the same amount of matches. If a draw does occur again we should just reshuffle and go with my proposal or yours.

RESTARTED TOURNAMENT RULESAs desiccatedi85 and Cheeseman agreed, there’s no fair way to do a 26-team tournament with every person having the same number of matches. And since theres already controversy, we have decided to start over:
The new format will be as follows:
•The 26 climates will be split randomly into 2 groups of 13 -These preliminary rounds will be decided by ranked choice voting -Rank the climates 1 to 13 and they get the inverse number of points, ie. 13 for 1st, 12 for 2nd, 1 for 13th. -These points will then be added together and the top 8 climates from each group will move on
•Next, the remaining 16 climates will be seeded 1-16 based on the number of points they got in the ranked-choice round -1 vs. 16, 2 vs. 15, 8 vs. 9 etc. -This will be a normal tournament like we’ve been doing
•Tiebreakers -For the ranked choice round, number of top 8 votes will be the first tiebreaker, followed by number of first place votes, followed by number of top 3 votes
-For the single elimination rounds, ranked choice points will be the tiebreaker. So the higher seed moves on.
ALL VOTES MUST BE IN BY 9:00 PM (21:00) GMT(-6) on Saturday, March 18th -Rounds will last 72 hours
Here is the first group of climates:

For the two climate run off thing, Srfoskey and Ariete.
For the 13 climates I'll have to think about it. That's a lot to put in order. Also, so far the last place voting has been an even split between me and Cheesehead. Who will win?

Just a question, what happens if a different number of people vote for the two groups? Say for example, if 25 people submit their rankings for this group, but only 20 people submit in the second half, would that give the first group an advantage with accumulated points?

Say for example, if 25 people submit their rankings for this group, but only 20 people submit in the second half, would that give the first group an advantage with accumulated points? I think the groups should be ranked separately and then the higher seeded of a group match up the lower seeded of the other one, i.e.:
A1 vs. B8 B4 vs. A5
A3 vs. B6 B2 vs. A7
A2 vs. B7 B3 vs. A6
A4 vs. B5 B1 vs. A8

I would use the average points in that case, divide points by the number of voters. Say someone gets 80 points with 20 people vs 90 with 25 people, I’d divide them so the first would be higher (80/20 = 4, 90/25 = 3.6). Marcelo that’s good idea. Im gonna stick with the 1-16 though since switching up the rules after I already made them would probably cause more controversy.
