Some of the major world religions originated in or near these modern cities. It should be noted that Zhoukou is the birthplace of Taoism, but since its climate is almost identical to Confucianism's Qufu, I didn't include Zhoukou. And yeah, Christianity actually became a "thing" or a settled community in Antioch, not Nazareth or Jerusalem as many think.

Aha I remember it. Similar, but still different as my one is the birthplace of religion. No wonder I couldn't find it.

Mecca. Hot months are too hot but otherwise an OK climate.

This thread is very interesting though, sufficiently different and shows where these religions actually originated.

I'm baffled as to why someone voted for Amritsar over Delhi suburb, but that baffles me less than Qufu being treated as the "birthplace" for both Confucianism AND Taoism

^^ what baffles me is that a significant % of the world's population believes in some mythical 'sky daddy'.... but then again, what do I know....?

Okay, that was my bad. But why were both Amritsar and Gurgaon included if Zhoukou and Qufu weren't? The former two are a lot more similar to each other climatically than Zhoukou and Qufu are.

Siddharthanagar is the best all around, even though the precipitation distribution is too extreme for my tastes. Amritsar would be second place.

Fair point, I guess I was biased because these are the cities of two major religions (hence my post title), whereas Taoism and Confucianism are not.
