Both have considerably similar, dry hot summers (although Phoenix can get thunderstorms). Winter is cooler in Duhok with rainy days and snowfall can occur 1-2 days a year, whereas Phoenix has very mild winters. Which do you prefer?

Duhok, cooler and wetter (although data probably not that accurate)

Duhok. A little too continental, but both climates have hotter than ideal summers, so might as well go with it

Duhok because Phoenix's "monsoon" is dry as fuck still.

I like the dry summer of Duhok, but winter is a bit too crummy there, so still choose here

Duhok.... simply for the rain, but its a clpse thing as the place is also chilly in the winter months Odd I thought you'd go for Phoenix because it is more subtropical with snowless, relatively warm winters. Hehehe I would go with Phoenix myself for the mild winters, despite its long unrelenting summers. Duhok's winters are cool and dreary ("cold rain") for my liking. They're also somewhat mostly cloudy (I have relatives there who post a lot of snaps as they're going out and in winter I rarely see much sunshine). I wonder what the actual sunshine hours are in northern Iraq...This map is the closest to "sunshine hours" that I could find:

Phoenix - much nicer winters and summers are only slightly hotter. Plus it probably gets the odd summer storm whereas Duhok probably never does.
