Except one is humid subtropical with a summer rainfall peak and the other is dry Mediterranean climate. Both are also slightly inland from the coast (the Pacific Ocean).

Taree...EASILY.
I know what Burbank is like in summer. It's not what you want.

Taree...EASILY. I know what Burbank is like in summer. It's not what you want.Well Taree has hot humid summers with some extreme heat days. Not sure if they're more worse than western Sydney's (a la, Penrith's). But the record high of 45.7C is kinda telling that they can get it bad as well.

Taree for the better rain pattern and probably a lot more storms. But I wish the winters were drier, especially June. I'd like to have all three winter months below 50 mm.

As a US West Coaster and lover of my oceanic-Mediterranean hybrid climate that has summer nights cool enough and not-humid enough to make AC mostly redundant, I had to vote for #2.
Fascinating how they have the same average annual temperature, even though Burbank has both slightly warmer winters and summers than the Australian locale that seems closer to the tropics than Sydney judging from the precipitation pattern.

Would have to be Taree, for the thunderstorms. As far as temp potential goes, it's a photo finish.

Taree (A-) for more rain, storms and having a more balanced seasonal lag.
