Pleasant climate on the Tenerife in the Atlantic Ocean. I have always thought that it is the quintessential subtropical climate. Except that, under Koppen, it is on the 'cooler' end of tropical to my surprise - Would you say it's tropical or more subtropical? You can also rate it and critique it.

Well, Koppen is normally King ( rolls eyes ), but I doubt its thought of as tropical, despite the mild/warm temps year round... Simply too dry, so is likey classed as an arid or semi arid climate and/or some Med classification. Latitudinally outside the Tropics at 28.3*N ( But then again so is Miami, Bermuda and Gladstone ( Qld ) and these 3 places have means +18c ) So the means in Santa Cruz make the cut for 'Tropical', but I'd say it barely 'feels' tropical. Otherwise a C+ to a B- rating from me.... Mild, equable, at the altitude not cold, but too dry overall. I dont mind Med rainfall patterns ie summer dryness, but this one is a little too arid for my liking. Oh, and I believe Coconut palms can grow there...?

But you gotta water them there and keep a constant watch on them because it's too dry.

Rated D, somewhat nice temps but no true seasonality according to my standards, as well as that dry summer pattern, and the seasonal lag. However, it does have adequate sunshine and humidity is decent. As for subtropical or tropical, it leans more to the tropical side partly due to a 62F average low in December!

E+. the only redeeming thing is that the winters are pleasant, although a bit dry

A land of no weather. I'd give this D.

I'll give it a B-, decent tropical desert, albeit boring.
And yes, it is tropical IMO, 62ºF+ means in every month is my system's threshold. This is in line with where coconut palms, a tropical indicator plant, will grow.

D- because boring as shit
It is a tropical arid climate. For the record I believe the northernmost place coconut palms can grow unprotected is Guildford Madeira, then Bermuda.

E-. One of the worst climates in the world besides ones which are literally unlivable.

Good threshold description. I guess I'll go with tropical now, or 'tropical lite'.

Interesting term. I'd use "semi-tropical" for places like Brisbane, Townsville, Durban, Dubai, Riyadh, Ahmedabad, Sao Paulo, Hanoi and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, among a few others. IMO, SoCal is still cool for semi-tropical. The lows seem chilly at places. And some areas getting moderate winter rainfall and cold blasts just un-tropicalizes things. 'Subtropical' suits best here, much like Perth and Sydney.

C+, good sunshine amounts, year-round mildly warm to moderately hot temps, but seriously lacking rainfall. I think it is semi-tropical semi-desert, not quite dry enough for a true desert; and roughly in the middle between tropical and subtropical (can grow bananas, papayas and mangoes close to the coast). All IMO
