Took a walk downtown yesterday enjoying one of the last warmish days of the year with sunny 14'C weather.  I was surprised at how green it still was in the city.  |

Smoke from a wildfire in the area Monday evening. Closest wildfire I can recall to where I live. It's under control but 1,639 acres burned. Pretty unusual to see this here. Fortunately got over half an inch of rain across most of the area from storm system Thursday. Cooler, more fall-like temps have arrived but dry, windy conditions today could increase fire risk.  |

A walk at the Hungryland WEA, Pal-Mar East section. Beautiful warm day, with a high of 90 F (32 C) and mostly sunny skies. Went there to test the new version of my cellular weather station. The design was changed to use less power than before and to be a lot cheaper to manufacture.  |

Looking up and down the streets in my suburb of Darwin. 10th October and although the 'build up' has commenced, it is still desperately dry around the City and suburbs. I've had 2mm of light showers in the last week, Airport 1mm. The last fall > 10mm was in early-mid April. The pics show those who irrigate their gardens and those who dont...  |
