Today; in the countryside, the trees are now more bare, in the city and near the sea there are more colors.

Fall is late this year, owing to summerlike temps up to mid-October followed by cloudy, rainy muck.

hike on Saturday 50-55 miles north of NYC. photo at sunset just before going down. looking at the catskills in the distance and Beacon, NY is the town at the bottom. Took advantage of the train along the hudson river to do a one-way hike, starting at Cold Spring ending at Beacon. AJ1013morning started to cloudy clearing up fast looking back at Cold Spring where I started bare up here went up the slope of Bull Hill to 1000 feet then back to sea level and up Breakneck Ridge. there was a nice little waterfall whose photo I didn't upload. not too crowded, the more fun scrambling was helpfully labeled "do not enter" this one was arrowed no label, just saw someone do this one and followed long section in the wood, down to a river valley (950 feet) and then up to Mount Beacon (1600 feet). see manhattan? i wonder where the furthest you can see the manhattan skyline is from the ground. I think further north the hudson highlands (the hills I'm on) block the view so from the north this might be the furthest up a firetower benefit of early sunsets is can get a nice sunset glow hiking easily

nei Impressive, I had no clue that the Manhattan skyline was visible from 50+ miles away. The furthest away I've seen it from is from 35 miles away, northeast of NYC.

Spotted some mammatus cloud today, it's been a while since I've seen some. Then a lovely sunset followed shortly after. All the pictures were taken from my balcony.

Not a photo, but a time lapse of the entire month of November that I compiled from a webcam in nearby Indiantown.
