Nice cool day after the mongrel heat of the last few days. The moisture is ramping up over Northern Australia. This morning's early morning storms have supressed activity over the Top End today. 12.4mm for the Airport since 6:00am this morning.

Not often the 9:00am reset affects the max temp recorded at the Airport. Sunday was rainy and cool ( below 30c ) for a good part of the day. It fined up some late afternoon and the mercury rose to 30.1c, before dipping down overnight as usual..... But ( there is always a but ) min and max temps are recorded over a 24 hour period 9:00am to 9:00am and the max temp for Sunday ( 31.6c ) was at 8.59am Monday morning.

From at mate, Cam, who works for the BoM at Gove, NT "Off she goes! Historical day today.... Gove's last ever manually released morning weather balloon. Something that's been happening almost daily since 1986 and handed over to automation in December 2023. An occasion worthy of a celebratory albeit a bit of an emotional beer I reckon!"
