Cold snap in Manchuria + dry season heat wave in Hainan on 2023.12.11 sourceRelated- Dec 2023 so far in Guangzhou. The wind shift-fueled transition from near-summer to winter conditions on Dec 16 is reminiscent of Houston.

Through 3 weeks December is averaging 51.2/24.9 and has had an above average mean every day since the 2nd. That makes it the 5th warmest first 3 weeks of December.
9 days have hit 55 (13 c) and 5 have hit 60 (16 c).
Additionally, just 0.01β (0.3 mm) of precipitation has fallen and thereβs been zero snow.
I havenβt minded the lack of cold and snow since itβs been so pleasant during the day and thereβs 4 more months to get snow. I do wish it was milder at night and cloudier though as evenings are annoyingly cold.

For the first time since 1971, it did not fall below 23Β°F (-5Β°C) at Oklahoma City during the entirety of astronomical fall. The first sub-23 low might occur on Christmas night, but that remains to be seen.
Meanwhile I'm visiting my grandparents in the San Diego area, and it is in the lower 60s F (mid 10s C) and partly cloudy. Pleasant weather all things considered, but not very Christmasy. I saw some lightning on my flight in on Thursday night, which surprised me.

Todays 1β snow solidified a white Christmas here, otherwise it would of been the first brown Christmas since 1997

The record cold Christmas Day at my place. Rain gauge not installed yet, but it rained all day and was overcast. Let it be shown for prosperity.

here's monthly averages Crunch41USA in July for comparison, part of the desert Southwest is silly as 850 hPa level is underground via psl.noaa.gov/data/composites/day/annoyingly in K but not hard to convert to Β°C

The record cold Christmas Day at my place. Rain gauge not installed yet, but it rained all day and was overcast. Let it be shown for prosperity. Virtually equal daily high yesterday at my river-moderated location where my PWS is at, a bit warmer at the AP. Opposite season, opposite hemisphere. Let that be shown for prosperity.
