The 2 strongest tornadoes in London in 'modern' times both occurred in December (1954-F3 and 2006-F2).
A weak tornado was also recorded on a dashcam crossing the M25 in Chertsey, on 21 December 2020. December tornadoes don't seem to be that rare, compared with other months of the year.

That feeling you get, when a subarctic maritime high latitude island gets bigger storms in mid winter than a place in Australia 20* closer to the equator in mid summer.
That feeling.

Heatwaves in AU ( source: BOM ) In summer, very hot days come in ones, twos, or threes before a cool change sweeps through. What makes a heatwave different is its duration and intensity. During a heatwave: β’ High temperatures last for at least three days. Often they continue for a week or longer. β’ Temperatures are not just a few degrees above average, they're up to 15 degrees above average. β’ The hot conditions impact nighttime temperatures, as well as the days. As heatwaves are more intense and last longer than usual summer heat, it's important to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated. Know your weather. Know your risk. What's a "heatwave?"
Not at all familiar with this alien concept.

The rainy period since mid October, and especially the storms around Christmas show their effects: flood in Northern Germany.

Weather the remaining days in La Mesa was nice, with highs in the 60s F (high 10s C) and lows in the 40s (high 0s C). The weather in North Carolina while I'm here looks pretty average and uneventful too.

Waiting for winter to start. It's supposed to snow tomorrow, less than an inch, but December hasn't seen any accumulating snow yet. The biggest snowfall was on October 31st (3.3") and the coldest temps were at the end of November.

Roebourne comes from behind to snatch the title of Australia's hottest location in 2023 ( source: Weatherzone ) Itβs a very valuable lesson to learn in sport and life in general; βitβs not over till itβs overβ and that lesson has absolutely been applied to the race for Australiaβs hottest spot of 2023. Roebourne Airport, just to the east from Karratha, recorded a temperature of 49.5 Β°C just before 2:30pm AWST on Sunday December 31st 2023. In that moment, the town overtook Marble Bar and Onslow Airportβs tied high temperature for 2023 of 49.3 degrees with less than 10 hours to spare in the year. Talk about a last minute, come from behind win that admittedly, the townβs sweltering residents may not have been too thrilled with in the moment. These sizzling temperatures are the result of a deep heat trough sitting right over the Pilbara, responsible for the extreme heatwave gripping the region at the turn of the new year. Marble Bar, backing up itβs 49.3Β°C day from yesterday, topped out at 47.3Β°C just before 2pm while several other locations passed 45 degrees to close out 2023. Looking at the graph of Roebourneβs temperature for yesterday, you can see just how extreme the heat was throughout the entire day. The mercury hovered above 30 degrees for the entire night and had climbed past 40Β°C before 8:30am. Just after 10am, the town had already surpassed 45Β°C and baked about that mark for more than 6 hours, only dropping back into the low 40s around 4:30pm! In addition to obtaining the title as Australia's hottest location of 2023, Roebourne also recorded its hottest ever December temperature, as well as just itβs 7th day in any month above 49Β°C, with records in the town dating back to 1887. Intense heat will continue over the region during the first week of 2024, with a brief reprieve possible as stifling heat gives way to normal summertime heat β still around the 40Β°C mark - late in the week. Then the race for 2024βs hot spot looks like heating up into the weekend with some early benchmarks getting set up.

49.5C is the biggest pisstake in the universe. Not legally 50C, and can't even round it up to 50C with a clear conscience.
