Time to start this one. Took a couple of pics on my mini trip to the mountains near Zagreb today. Officially the first snow of the season, about 5-15 cm of snow in hills and mountains, Zagreb subtropique got about 1 cm. Was nice to see some fresh snow on the ground, kids snowballing, sledding and building snowmen. Just as it should be in the winter here. All in all a very nice day today.

Went to the mountains in the afternoon. Was inside the pub for a while with my buddies, and then decided to step out for some fresh air. Lo and behold it was fucking amazing outside. Thick fog and snow on the ground gave an eerie horror movie vibe, highlighted by the dark woods being around. I had a spark in my ass so I went for a quick hike and it was so good. Slipped and fell on my ass and was rolling down the hill, it was funny af Sadly I didn't see the Bigfoot

An impressive 1 cm of ice on a pond in the local park, likely the most wintry sight of the season given how things are going. On the road to the city of Rouen, NW of Paris.

Nepal Trip November 19, 2023 to December 21, 2023 Part One: Perth to Kathmandu: November 19th to November 21st After an uneventful flight to Singapore, we stopped over for a 7 hour layover, checked out the city and got some food. Temps were 29-30C, cloudy, light breeze, humid. Gardens: Marina Bay Sands: Quick pose: Quick pose 6 years ago in roughly the same spot: Views from the guest elevator viewpoint at Marina Bay Sands, looking out over the harbour and Gardens By The Bay: We then hopped on our flight to Kathmandu, arriving late. The morning after I woke up early to explore the city and get admin/prep done for the trek. We only had two days in Kathmandu. I really like Kathmandu in the early morning; no tourism, no one shouting at you, just locals getting about their business and getting ready for the day. November 20th: max 22, min 9, sunny, light winds Exploring the city early Durbar Square Met up with a work collegue who happened to be in kathmandu for leave the same time as me (he is nepali and was visiting family), he showed us the old city of Bhaktapur View from the hostel: November 21st: similar conditions, spent a lot of the day running about so there were minimal photos, did wander up to the Monkey Temple in the afternoon. Monkey Temple Walk The next post will be focussing on the Jiri to Lukla extension of the 3 Passes Trail. A 5 and a half day section comprising of subtropical valleys, temperate pine forests and even some snowy passes on the way up to the Himalayan Highlands.

My American elm that I grew from seed is flowering very early this year. This is what it normally what it looks like in mid to late February. Not much in the way of sun lately, but there's been an astounding lack of cold. It hasn't even been below 50 F/10 C in over two weeks. Progress is about two weeks earlier than two years ago, which was also quite warm: cdweather.boards.net/post/205232

tommyFL How old is that tree? Growth rate must be pretty good unless you planted that when you were very young.

Climbed Arthurโs Rock in the nearby state park today. Temp was in the 30s but felt warmer with no wind. Distance: 3.4 miles Summit elevation: 6,780โ Trailhead elevation: 5,700โ View from early in the hikeโArthurโs Rock is to the right. Trail gradually climbed, eventually views opened up down to Horsetooth Reservoir and the plains: > < The last 0.1 miles were on steps cut into the rock which got a bit slippery. Top had nice views to the east and north. Overlooking the northern half of the reservoir: > < Looking north, Bonner Peak is the mountain in the middle, Bellevue Dome is on the right side. > < Back at the trailhead, view is looking down the valley to the south: > <
