The current place of residence of our fellow WWF member Marcelo . Inspired by the following discussion in this thread: cdweather.boards.net/thread/2254/wwf-members-climate-type?page=3
Tarragona (wikipedia):
The climate of Tarragona can be described as a humid subtropical climate (Kรถppen Cfa). Despite its location in the Mediterranean region, it does not have a Mediterranean climate since August has more rainfall than winter months, which receive near or less than 30 mm (1.2 in). Winters are mildly cool and summers are hot and sultry, while the rainiest seasons are autumn and spring.
* Note that this station is not located in Tarragona itself, but rather a few km away from the city. Still, I'd imagine it corresponds well to the actual climate of Tarragona.

B. Full of gay ass seasonal lag and a bit lacking in the heat and/or storms department, but good as far as climates at 41ยฐN go.

B-
It's alright, maybe a bit uneventful though. Would prefer the record highs to be higher in the May-Sept period.

A-. Awesome temps but a fake ass Mediterranean climate. Fuck all winter/spring rain, very boring and semiarid.

This is the climate box for the Tarragona station from the Catalonian Weather Service, installed in 2009 and located at the Educational Complex. Monthly average temperatures are very similar to the Reus Airport's. It's bit warmer overall, but maybe it's just due to the period of records. It has a slightly lower annual range too, but it's the diurnals which are clearly lower due to its location much closer to the Mediterranean coast. Absolute highs are very similar (all-time high of Reus is 39.8C in Aug 2018, it isn't shown), are linked to continental air incursions. Absolute lows are milder in Tarragona. Precipitation is very similar, both in pattern and amount. Both 1991-2020 Reus Airport and 2009-2023 Tarragona Complex Educatiu are (very marginally) Kรถppen BSk climate. In both cases 30%โ70% of the total precipitation occurs from April to September, so the boundary between dry (B) and non-dry climate is: Reus Airport: 16.8 x 20 + 140 = 476 mm [1991-2020 average = 475.4 mm]
Tarragona Complex Educatiu: 17.2 x 20 + 140 = 484 mm [2009-2023 average = 469.4 mm] If either was above their respective precipitation thresholds, they'd be Csa, not Cfa, because they both fulfill the criterion of having a "summer" (Apr-Sep) month with less than one third the precipitation than a "winter" (Oct-Mar) month.

C, not bad. July and August are a little warm for me, and it's too dry in general, but most of the year is comfortable.

Marcelo how many thunderstorms are there?
According to this map, it has around 35-40, Catalonia and the Pyrenees seem to be the most thunderstorm-prone regions of Spain.

Marcelo how many thunderstorms are there? Reus Airport station averages 13.9 thunderstorm per year ( 1981-2010). No data for Tarragona itself, but it has to be about the same.
Personally, I don't remember the last time I've heard a thunder. Then again, there's been drought since before I moved here.
