Increased the sunshine numbers for February to get over 40% possible. No other changes.

Hereβs my most recent update: I added a bit more snow, made the precipitation days more detailed and lowered some record lows.

Another update... actually using the climates I discussed (Forest Grove and Highland S France) Cadeau Lommaren -- foehn wind effects, increased diurnal ranges and autumn sun slightly Babu

Meh basically just Portland with broader shoulders

Meh basically just Portland with broader shoulders I'm trying to semiconvert Portland into a subtropical highland climate (using climates from the pyrennees and alps) to force it to snow realistically, to create an marine-subtropical highland cross. My nights are significantly colder. It's designed to enjoy both snow and 50's during the winter... Would you recommend augmented diurnal ranges? I wanted to keep it realistic . Something like 29/51, 27/49, and 27/53 for winter?

Revised, and most likely the finalised/official edition of my dream climate: Notable Changes: I. Location; from Tumut Hill/Maragle State Forest to Blowering Creek, NSW. II. Altitude lowered down from 867 m to 659 m AMSLβto match the climate more realistically. III. Aesthetic (i.e. numeracy, positioning, etc.) IV. Summer and shoulder season record lows altered to more savoury figures. V. Summer record high increased to 46.6Β° C from 45.6Β° C; altered some other months, too. VI. Sunshine distribution altered slightly to match SH daylight lengths; January yields the longest daylight, with December following; June-July yields the shortest, but July is cloudier and wetter/snowier. VII. Precipitation significantly reduced from 1,613.5 mm to 1,413.5 mm (Laurel Hill, NSW annual precipitation figureβbut with differing distribution and individual figures). VIII. Likewise, precipitation days have been reduced from 173.8 days to 153.9 days. IX. Snowfall tremendously reduced from 959.6 cm to 602.4 cm; figured it'd be too much hassle with that much. X. Snowy days, likewise, have been reduced from 106.9 days to 92.7 days. XI. Winter and spring have seen some notable warming; July from β6.3Β° / 2.6Β° C to β5.4Β° / 3.6Β° C, for instance. XII. Winter more variable, i.e. the record high>average high disparity has been increased. XIII. Akin to the real-life NSW climates such as Kiandra, February is now the driest month instead of January.

Update posted below! I increased the variability and records, using asheville as a base for the winters

Finalised; sorry for taking so long to decide upon whether or not I wanted my dream climate to be that extremeβhowever, I've made the winter maxima even more variable (i.e. strengthened the high-pressure ridging and polar front collision, so it's not just ~3Β° C highs everyday in winter), as well as making the climate box itself look better and more polished: Bear in mind that the foremost reason I've moderated my record lows, owes chiefly to the fact that it closely approaches or even surpasses the record highs/lows each year, much akin to its real NSW counterpartsβwe approach or shatter records with little to no effort, so a β23.2Β° C record low would comprise an annual mean minimum straddling β17Β° to β20Β° C, which is still bloody cold...after all, I'm a snow-foamer first and foremost, not a polar-foamer. The increased winter warmth would also help to put some dents into the otherwise tremendous snowpack; increased high-pressure spells would also guarantee frequently frigid readings, and matches the sunshine hours better. NOTE: Already submitted this finalised revision into the WWF Dream Climate Tournament; as of 6:04 AM {AEST}, upon the 15th of June.

Anyone else have relatively fluid preferences when it comes to climate? I've had a bit of a tough time coming up with a true "dream" climate for myself because there are all sorts of variations that I could be quite happy with. The main thing they've got in common is a four-seasons climate, some more extreme, some not so much. I like summers that are consistently warm with a mix of humid and dry days, and a good dose of thunderstorms, proper stable shoulder seasons, and and winters that are cold enough to feel like a true contrast from summer, though the finer details (above/below freezing, snowy/not snowy, etc) are rather ambiguous and ever-changing. Eventually I'll get around to doing a weatherbox (or two)

not quite a dream climate, because it was based on a real climate [my then location] and tried to minimize change. Good four season climate imo. Snowy but not extremely cold winters, fast but still somewhat realistic spring warm-up, summers almost unchanged for the real Amherst I'd of course, neipolis. But I would miss some stuff from having snowy winters and seasons. Which is why I find some of the dream climate discussion tedious. I have my ideal which barely has changed in 8 years but there's of other thing that I'd appreciate in other climates, just not quite as good as my dream. Might be an ideal almost tropical wet climate. Here's neipolis (my actual dream climate) for comparison

rpvan This has to be the closest real-world place to your dream climate. If you haven't heard of it before, here you go. It has impressively cold, snowy winters for 90 degree summer highs.

Wow, thanks for finding this. Crazy how similar it is to my dream climate. I always thought there may be someplace in the intermountain west which may be similar but eastern Turkey looks good too!

It's possible that somewhere in the west has enough temperature range but I haven't found one. Your climate is more extreme than most.
