Two small towns 30 minutes apart with quite distinct climates. Which one do you prefer? I'll take San Luis Obispo for being wetter and having a lower diurnal range. The warmer winter balances out the cooler summer quite nicely.

Paso Robles for having hotter summers and being more seasonal. Both of them have too chilly summer lows though.

Paso Robles. Both have ice cold nights in crummer, but win for warmer daily highs.

Once every 3-5 years is not even close to worth having 3 months of 90 f average highs every year.

This is hard to decide on. SLO has more rainfall which is good, but its summer highs are underwhelming compared to Paso Robles. Paso Robles gets more shitty cold lows though. I guess SLO wins it for the increased rainfall.

Paso Robles. Pretty good climate actually. Definitely better than SLO in all seasons.

I don't trust the sources used in Atascadero's climate box, so here's PRISM's estimated Atascadero climate: Temps look more similar to Paso Robles while precip is very similar to SLO.

SLO. Milder winters, and warmer record lows in crummer. Paso Robles's summer highs are definitely superior but those diurnals are ridiculous.
