The hottest area of Metropolitan Athens during the summer. Located in the interior of the Athens Basin. It's a C for me. Chilly winters for my liking

Adding 1955-2010 data from HNMS for context: Anyway, I'm gonna give it an A, assuming it's not a rooftop station or overexposed, diurnals seem more reasonable. A bit too dry in summer though for A+.

assuming it's not a rooftop station or overexposed It's not a rooftop station. HNMS does not have any rooftop stations. They don't use Davis stations. HNMS is Greece's national met authority and only uses ground stations as per WMO standards. Located at the park of Nea Filadelfeia. The old HNMS station closed in 2010. The new AWS from HNMS at the same location is operational from 2006. Here is a view of the new AWS from HNMS in the park of Nea Filadelfeia And here the location of the park within Metropolitan Athens

B for me, I prefer warmer winters and a more-even precip distribution but this is still very good.

B-. Overall a decent climate, mostly just too dry. Summers are a bit hot but not that bad. Greece needs no Boteving

yeah if you are looking for rain during the summer in Athens better forget it. Better chances of winning the lottery Athens actually has more summer rain than I am used to lol Depends on which area of Athens we are talking about. Athens is huge and has many stations. The extreme south hardly gets any summer rain. Nea Filadelfeia is smack bang at the center of the metropolitan area. It has a characteristic Med climate. The south of Athens though is clear BSh

C- Winters too cool. Saves it from D for not having overly wet winters. yeah winters are a bitch in Nea Filadelfeia. It gets more chilly in the winters because its far from the moderating effects of the sea. But summers are notoriously hot by Greece's standards. Nea Filadelfeia has a ''cult'' following by some met enthusiasts in Greece. Being in Athens and all gets the most publicity during the heatwaves Check out a youtube channel thats deals only with the heatwaves in Nea Filadelfeia. Loads of press coverage every summer
