A little bit of everything on Christmas Eve. Looking further out, it seems the cold stays away from the Baltic and instead will make a comeback here further west again from the 25th onwards

Brrrr I'm seeing the coldest week we've had in years, especially going by highs. And we've had some very cold stretches recently [in 2014 & 2015, 2009 & maybe 2011 further back]. Of course, sometimes forecasts exaggerate. Can't compare till it happens

Of course, sometimes forecasts exaggerate. Can't compare till it happens I've noticed highs being impressively cold in recent years, but the nighttime lows generally forgettable.

Central Park hasn't had a below average December since 2010 (!!!) In the middle of that month we had three straight days with highs below 30F. And then three straight days around Christmas with highs at 32F or below. As you can see it's pretty damn rare to be below freezing for long periods of time in December
