Which Aussie climate that lies on the south-facing coast do you prefer? Oceanic Melbourne or the Mediterranean Esperance?

Both very good, like B+ level. I might slightly go with Esperance because it gets more rain and still isn't bone dry in summer. And winters being a little warm is fine because summers aren't that hot.

Esperance I wonder what Esperance's sunshine hours are. Sydney's clear days are around 105 days (though some suburbs read at 95), and our sunshine hours average at 2600. So maybe theirs is around 2600-2700 hrs?

Tough one ... I prefer Melbourne's temperatures but Esperance has better (more) winter rainfall. Will go with Melbourne and not because I'm biased

Esperance, warmer annually plus more sunshine if Wikipedia's # of clear days is to be believedThey're correct; The 95.5 clear days are from the Bureau of Meteorology 1991-2010 normals. The 1969-2010 period has 85.5 clear days. They stopped measuring clear days after 2010 there btw.
