The thread about which members live in the best/worst climates inspired me to find out what our average collective climate looks like. Since we live in all sorts of climates, I thought it would be interesting to figure out. As you can see, it's a temperate climate with cool winters and warm summers. I previously made an average climate out of the 100 largest cities in the world, and perhaps unsurprisingly our climate is much cooler than that one. What do you guys think of it? Members+Places included in the calculation, sorted by region/country: Me/JG/caspase (Melbourne) Ethereal (Sydney) CRISPR (Ulladulla) Beercules (Renmark) Noodleman/Paddy (Perth) greysrigging (Darwin) longaotian (Auckland)
/0 (Jakarta) chesternz (Bangkok) Gior (Seoul)
coolman18/grega94 (Seattle) psychedamike24 (Portland) omegaraptor (Corvallis) arcleov2 (SLO) fwf (Irvine) firebird (Phoenix) Steelernation (Fort Collins) srfoskey (OKC) sari (KC) ral (Alexandria) Metsfan (Atlanta) tommyFL (Arundel) AJ (Key Biscayne) melonside (Myrtle Beach) Benfxmth (New Bern) cevven/tarlife (Raleigh) Wildcat (Lexington) Crunch41 (Milwaukee) Cheeseman (Madison) Kaleetan (Portage) alex992 (Sartell) Speagles(Washington, PA) ilmc (Sussex) nei (NYC)
deneb78 (Vancouver) Morningrise (Saskatoon) Jetshnl (Winnipeg) segfault (Toronto) candle (Charlottetown)
B87/irlinit (London) Meteoman (Sheffield) flamingGalah (Portsmouth) Cadeau/rozenn (Paris) Donar (Wiesbaden) kronan (Gothenburg) Babu (Umea) Ariete (Turku) aabc (Voru) geba (Riga) tompas (Zagreb) Marcelo (Tarragona) southathens (Athens)
For cities with more than one member, I added extra weight to those places.
It's missing a bunch of info such as record highs/lows, precipitation days and sunshine, so it may make it harder to properly rate btw.

C. A bit lackluster crummers with cool winters. Also doesn't look far off from an ideal climate that would win a dream climate tournament in here IIRC. Great thread idea!

C+
Beautiful summers but the winters are mediocre. The winters could be much worse though, hence the high rating. Much worse being something like 2C avg high/-2C avg low and slush.

B-. Summers look like those of southern Wisconsin, winters are a bit chilly but not cold enough for major snowfall. There is adequate rain year round.

B+. Not bad at all except July and August being slightly warmer than my preference.

Winters look boring, similar summers to here. Shoulder seasons are acceptable. Nonetheless, it's ok.

B, it’s actually pretty good. Depending on storms and records it could be even higher.

Great thread idea! As for the climate, it's decent. Inoffensive temps and rain, but just a bit too cool year-round and too much summer rain. Looks a lot like Milan actually. B

B-/C+ only based on the average temps (cooler than ideal in winter)

B- (let's say the sunshine is around 2500 hrs). It's okay I guess. I wouldn't hate living in this climate. Summers are alright but winters are in that no man's land of being chilly but not really cold enough for regular snowfall.

Yeah using the members' hometowns as you listed in the spoiler above. Yeah I can do that once I have the time.

Solid A, only real problem is the seasonal lag, if its even an issue to point out

B
A decent four-season climate. I would prefer it to be a bit wetter and more continental, but overall it seems fairly comfortable.
