Just off Metropolitan Athens and despite its low altitude Avlonas has a very interesting climate. It is located in the leeward side of the Parnitha Mountain (which largely moderates the Athenian climate, making it significantly milder and drier). Very rainy by Athens standards and just look at the min/max extremes. Huge diurnal differences for the Attica peninsula. Well known area for its foehn winds from Parninta Mountain especially when S winds blow in Athens. The data are from the Davis Meteoclub station which is situated on the ground of a huge farm in Avlonas. I give it a D+

Finally not Boteved. That said, Meteoclub isn't a reliable source for weather data either. But if the precip figures are true, they're very impressive for the area.

Taking it as it reads, that's a damn fine Med climate. B, tending to B+ Loses a bit of a higher rating for the chilly winter.

Unironically this is an A+. Temps are ideal, rainfall is ideal. I didn't know that anywhere near Athens could be this rainy, great find.

Unironically this is an A+. Temps are ideal, rainfall is ideal. I didn't know that anywhere near Athens could be this rainy, great find. The north areas of Metropolitan Athens can reach up to 700 mm especially in higher altitudes around Parnitha. Avlonas being just outside metropolitan Athens, in the leeward side of Parnitha mountain receives all this precipitation that Parnitha blocks from entering Athens. Basically the Attica Peninsula (where metropolitan Athens dominates) ranges from close to 1000 mm of average annual precipitation in the Avlonas area to only around 290 mm in the SW Athens Riviera (Anavyssos-Saronida zone). Also the most pronounced characteristic of its climate is a) the temperature inversions it experiences and thats why we have seen Ts as low as -10C in 2019 (which is unheard of in low lying areas of Attica) and b) its extreme susceptibility to foehn winds when southerlies blow in Athens. Virtually all of East Attica (and especially the Mesogeia area) is well known for these foehn winds. Last July Avlonas registered a stunning 46.2C during a strong hot foehn winds episode. Btw I have changed my mind and I am giving it a B- because its really rare to see close to 1000 mm av. annual precipitation so close to Athens. Below a map of Attica with the exact location of the Avlonas Davis station in relation to Athens.

B- if the data is reliable. Nice temperatures and a decent amount of rain.

How can people like rainy summers?
That's beyond me. I would hate that. It would most definitely interfere with my summer gay orgies.
Nah not for me.

Yes they are too chilly for Aussies... I prefer the s w Western Australian kind of Med climate myself and/or the North African coastal Med. And for me the PNW Med type is waaay too chilly in winter.
