Other summariesYou can see the different effects of the blocking high across the major cities. Sydney had rain every day for the first two weeks of the month under constant southeasterly winds. Brisbane avoided the rain amounts of further south, but was still quite drizzly. The rainfall to rain days ratio looks like something we'd see here. Perth was very warm and dry for most of the month until the last few days. There was a record stretch of maximums in the mid to high 20s. Luckily, they got their autumn break eventually. Adelaide was also warm and very dry, but the sunshine stands out in particular. 240 hours in May!

The year of absolute rubbish continues. Another wet, dull month. Warmer than average temperatures couldn't help it actually feel springlike. Seems like a very normal May to me, and if anything better than average. Sunshine only like 10% below average, precipitation only like 15% above average. Temps 1.4'C above average. You always find something to complain about don't you. I'm looking at this year in London so far and I'm seeing one of the warmest Jan-May in history.

It has been record wet and also month after month of below average sunshine stretching back to last summer. Sure, consistent 18/19c days are slightly above average and warmer than average nights due to cloud cover also pushes up the averages, but it is still total sh*t. One small event of a few days of 25c+ days in May doesn't make it a good Spring. Averages don't always tell the whole picture, a 17/18c sunny day in May will always feel better than the same with never ending cloud cover.

A hot, wet month that somehow managed to disappoint with a lack of heavy storms. Some very sweaty nights.

Apart from it being probably the wettest and dullest year on record. It has been extremely wet and cloudy since September 2022, with only short breaks in Feb, May and Jun 2023. There hasn't been a sub-50mm rainfall month since May 2023.

May here was above average with once again above average rainfall & slightly below average sunshine. We did however get a few nice beach days, which thank god I took advantage of, as June so far has been absolute shite. There hasn't been a sub-50mm rainfall month since May 2023. That seems nice. I hate it when months hardly get any rain.
