I think that's quite a fair rule to have! When "penismcghee" appeared in the shoutbox yesterday it was pretty fun but it gives a false impression of how many people there are here! So why not this rule: Troll accounts are allowed for the shoutbox but will be shut down within 24 hours? That means various imitations of mods from C-D etc can appear but that we don't lose count of real members For the record I don't plan on troll accounts but I think they can be fulfilling the evenings at times provided they don't get out of hand. So long as they don't clutter the member list.

Seems fair. All new users now have to ask permission to join (and if necessary be voted on), so that's going to make it not worth the effort to set up sock accounts - I'll know who it is anyway.
I don't mind anonymous posting if it was just in the shoutbox, but this is now a private forum and you have to be logged in to post or see what's going on, I'm not sure if it's possible to post anonymously in the shoutbox while still being signed in. I'll have a look and see how it all works...
EDIT - in theory guests can now post anonymously in the shoutbox, in practice though guests can't see the shoutbox without logging in. I agree that having people troll the shoutbox can be fun enough if they do it properly but the benefits of keeping this forum private outweigh that IMO.

So will the "penismcghee" account be eliminated? It's absolutely not like the user behind it will be banned or something lol... So we keep the real membership count in order?

Go on then, just to keep the membership count real

Good! You should add the "one account" rule and having to be accepted to join as part of the information post
