Both places are at similar latitudes in their respective hemispheres, and their cooler halves of the year have been regarded as similar. However, Rome's summer is much hotter than Motueka's. Rome, ItalyMotueka, New Zealand

Motueka. Pretty much the ideal climate really. I can grow muh oranges and eat muh refreshing orange as I ski on the nearby mountain slopes in this subtropical climate.

Rome is well ahead here. Also notice how their late summer is pleasantly humid - not so in Motueka.

Rome for being warm all year round, as well as having more sun and dryness. Motekoa really has no saving grace. I thought it will have warmer winter lows due to the oceanic effect. So nothing really redeems this poor NZ climate.

Rome because it gets thunderstorms and it's a better citrus-growing climate than Mouteka, which is only good for marijuana and hops.

Another vote for Rome on account of having actual summer warmth.

It's interesting how the cooler half of the year is pretty similar in both places, but Motueka doesn't get the benefit of warm SSTs and the influence of the subtropical ridge so not much of a summer there.
