Interesting map of global aridity index based on Penman-Monteith's equation of potential evapotranspiration (ET 0). Goes to show that absolute annual precip totals don't tell the full story. www.nature.com/articles/s41597-022-01493-1Couldn't help but notice that most of the eastern coastal US, including my area, is in a similar shade to much of Western Europe. The climates are very similar, it's weird why Western Europe is portrayed as so rainy but not the US east coast, when they're so similar.

This is a ridiculous idea for a map lol. Its interesting how the blue area matches up well with Nunavut's borders. I didn't know about the place near the Yukon / NWT border and I also didn't expect northeast Alaska to be on here.

North Western Europe which is very different to the South has significantly more rainy days than the east coast of the US despite precipitation quantity being similar. Obviously the rainfall there is lighter with more drizzle.

Medieval climate classification. Cold, uninhabitable zones in the north and south (left and right), a hot uninhabitable zone around the equator (where ships were assumed to catch fire), a NH habitable zone encompassing the known world, and an assumed SH habitable zone.

It's not really clear what that data is supposed to be representing. Anyway, applying subjective labels like "miserable" to conditions I and many other find enjoyable is just shitty mapmaking.

Florida has a dry climate confirmed That's more laughable for eastern China, Taiwan, and southern Japan; which are not dry climates. Although what they are trying to show are the horse latitudes/Hadley cell areas, and most of those areas are dry climates.

Nice to see that Southern Greenland has a temperate climate.

Nice to see that Southern Greenland has a temperate climate. It’s called Greenland for a reason, right?

mostly solar radiation rather than temp. Temperature has a rather small effect.

Florida has a dry climate confirmed Much of Florida is actually subhumid.
Anyway, Cherrapunjee has a dry climate confirmed
The map is just showing the horse latitudes though, as others pointed out.
