Following from Donar and Benfxmth's threads, here are places within 0.3C of Melbourne's mean annual temperature. I've included 24 locations from the NH and SH. Let's start our world tour. We start off in the mild North Island city of Tauranga, New Zealand. Next we jump across the Tasman Sea to the hometown, with its variable summers. Another south coast climate on the other side of the continent, but with a Mediterranean pattern Since I couldn't find climates in South Africa with this temperature range, we go all the way to the subtropical east coast of South America Things dry out considerably as we head inland Still dry across the border in Chile, but a winter precipitation peak emerges Now we head into the Northern Hemisphere, starting off in humid subtropical Japan The west coast of Japan is much wetter and snowier than the east coast - in fact our wettest location in the battle A strong monsoonal pattern emerges in South Korea Drier and more continental than the other East Asian climates so far More moderated summers due to elevation in Guizhou province This Xinjiang climate is far the driest and most continental here A Med pattern appears as we head to Central Asia This Iranian city has considerably wetter winters than Tashkent The Azerbaijani capital features low diurnals and a dry climate Russia's warmest city has wet winters and drier but still somewhat wet summers Defined Med pattern in western Turkey More moderated temps in Tuscany Continentality increases slightly again in the middle of the Iberian peninsula We cross the Atlantic to the U.S. capital Similar climate to DC, but wetter and less snowy Things dry out as we head west Moderated coastal NorCal climate We conclude in inland northern California which has more seasonal variation and winter rain than Berkeley

Hmm, I think Saitama? Seems to have the most of what I want, best combo of OK sunshine and winters (albeit a bit too cold) and reliable summer heat/storms. Murfreesboro is a close second out of these.

Saitama and Murfreesboro are the best of these.

Dolores's sun data looks wrong. It wins if it has about the same amount of sunshine as any other station in the area, but Pisa if it's really that cloudy

Voted for Jining.
Guiyang would have won if it had Jining's sunshine.
Bursa in third...very decent climate for one with a Med precip pattern.

Amarillo for me. Having dry, sunny winters is the most important thing in this temp range. Plus looks like it has some summer storms.

There are numerous great options but Ukiah tops the list for the winter rains, dry summers, and relatively high spring/summer max temps.

A lot of climates at this temp range are pretty decent, but I pick Dolores

Tauranga, Dolores (if sun data was more like Buenos Aires), Mufreesboro in that order. Pretty good!
