Death Valley, but all the wettest months. Data back to 1911.
Edit: I forgot to rate it! I give it an E: it's still awful in summer but the winter months are much better this way. Kรถppen BSh.
The "sun hours" is actually the year. The wettest year overall was 4.73" (120mm) in 2005. Death Valley is so dry that one single storm can drop enough rain to break a 100-year monthly record.
Compared to 1991-2020 average, it's 2F cooler. May is the 3rd coldest ever, probably 2nd since the coldest month looks fake. April and June are also much cooler than normal. Normals in spoiler.
The most impressive day was August 20th which recorded 2.20"/56mm, the normal for the entire year.
Afternoon hourly temps peaked at just 77F/25C, compared to an average high for the August of 116F/47C. The max was 82F/28C at midnight before. I think a larger max temp deviation has happened, somewhere like Great Falls with their august snowstorm in the early 90's, but this was truly an extreme event.
The dew point also reached 72F/22C that day. Time series link
I didn't include November 1913 (1.61") or 1946 (1.50") because many days were missing temperature data.
More stats in spoiler, such as 1mm precip days (43) and wettest individual days.
More rainy day stats
April 15 to 17 was unusually cool due to rain. 1.67" rain fell on the 15th-16th, and two days saw highs of just 69F (avg is 88).
The WETTEST JUNE EVER in Death Valley had 2 days with a trace of rain, and 1 day with 0.57". One day, that's it, haha. Most years it does not see any rain in June.
July 2021 may have been wettest, but it still recorded a 130/104 day (54/40C), the 2nd hottest day ever based on (max+min)/2. The 130F is also tied for the hottest since the record year of 1913. The hottest mean temp ever was a 128/107 day (53/42C), and the warmest low is a suspicious 120/110 (49/43C) day on July 5, 1918
The 1 day in August saw 2.20" and 70s temps mid-day. But that was the only day over 1mm/0.04" for the month. The other 3 days were 0.03, 0.02, and 0.01".
Death Valley has seen 1" rainfall on 9 different days. It doesn't take much rain to cause flooding there, some roads and trails were probably closed. But it would be cool to visit after rain and see the flowers that pop up.
