One is at sea level and the other is a high peak in the nearby Central Oregon Coast Range. Both have significant spring lag. Which do you prefer? Newport is right on the coast and has a very mild climate because of this. At an elevation of 3592 feet above sea level, Laurel Mountain is the third highest peak in the Central Oregon Coast Range, just east of the coast. It receives around twice the amount of precipitation Newport does and has reliable snowfall.

Newport pretty easily for being drier and not having such long winters

Newport is the easy choice, as Laurel mountain is significantly colder on average and gets too much snow

fuck it Laurel Mountain for the more exciting winters (and it somehow has less annual precip daysโฆ)
That sunshine figure for Newport is obviously not correct, it would equate to about 2500 hours a year. Iโd guesstimate Newport at ~1900 hours a year, based off what Forks and Eureka average.

Newport because it is warmer, and thus not snowy.

Both are fucking shit. That being said, I'll give a slight edge to Laurel Mountain because it can at least get some snow and has a bigger annual temperature range.
