As far as I know, Shanghai's climate hasn't been rated on this forum yet.

B
Those yellow bastards have much better summers than mine these days which are to die for, shame about the cloudy winters though.

B-. No highly offensive features, though summers and winters are a bit extreme and it's rather cloudy

That random June precipitation/cloud cover spike is odd, wonder what causes that.
Anyway this gets a B. July and August are dreadful โ super humid and dry for the temps โ but the rest of the year is pretty good.

D+. Shanghai has a similar climate in terms of the mean temp for the coldest and warmest months compared to Kyoto, but much more warm-biased. Given its location further south than most major cities in Korea and Japan, the monsoon tends to come earlier and be more concentrated in June rather than July. Cities in the southern part of Kyushu island in Japan are roughly at the same latitude, and we can also observe the significant difference occurring in June. KumamotoMiyazakiKagoshima

B-, great temps but ruined by a bad precipitation pattern. Steelernation see those June and August rain peaks with a relatively โdryโ July? Theyโre caused by the East Asian Shitsoon. The shitsoonal winds shift northward with the northward movement of the ITCZ. The ITCZ is north of Shanghai in July leading to relatively dry conditions before it smacks into Shanghai again in August along with horrific typhoons this time.

E. Cloudy, wet humid hellhole with chilly winters. Nothing very redeemable about it.

C- Winter temps are ok but they're too uniform with little snow. Summers are too hot and humid and Jun sun hours are depressing. At least winters aren't too gloomy and there's plentiful rain (albeit maybe a bit too much).

D-, boring chilly and cloudy in winter, really hot and muggy in summer, almost never comfortable or pleasant.

B-, summers are too hot and humid but otherwise itโs not too bad. One of the better climates in China apart from Kunming.

B-. Winters are a bit chilly with the potential for snow but otherwise it's really good. Those summers look amazing.
