Tohmajärvi is a crappy subarctic municipality some 50 km south of Ilomantsi capable of some serious low temps, but it's also reasonably wet compared to nearby locations. It has lost 30% of its population during this normal period. I know at least a few of you will love this climate:

An E+ from me due to the extremely weak lows.

B+/A-. this climate has caught my attention before. all the finnish villages along the russian-finnish border south of 64N have excellent climates. seems to be within the 100% white christmas zone, or at least on the border, so winter snow is guaranteed. en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/christmas-weather

Too cool crummers? Tohmajärvi has surely a guaranteed White Christmas. But note that further west the possibilities have reduced dramatically during the 91-16 period. Climate change bro.

Moderate B. Any stats for storm activity, annual wind speed, fog frequency or precipitation days? Might improve its rating by quite a bit!

B+. The seasons are a bit too extreme. Record lows are significantly too cold. Record highs are slightly lower than ideal.

Pretty good! Winters are great, springs and falls are great too, summer is too cool though. So it gets a B from me. Looks nice and snowy in winter.

Moderate B. Any stats for storm activity, annual wind speed, fog frequency or precipitation days? Might improve its rating by quite a bit! Precipitation days are 127 days above 1 mm, and 16 days above 10 mm. Days with thunderstorms is around 16 a year. Annual wind speed is around 11.5 km/h (7.2 mph). No fog data, but as whole of Finland, the relative humidity is moderate/high all year.

D+ Winters are too long at that latitude but the actual temperatures are okay. Summers look near perfect though a bit too much on the cool side.
